terminology help!

Hi!
So I am new to DAZ and 3D modeling.
One of the problems I'm having is with terminology. I feel like I can't ask an intelligent question, nor understand the answer.
For example, someone answered a question saying something like "then you can apply that to the original map". I have no real idea what that means. Which is fine, learning curve and all. The problem is I'm having issues finding out what a 'map' is (this is just an example, there's no need to explain this to me).
What I'm wondering is if there's a good reference guide for this sort of terminology for DAZ? Or, is these terminology common to 3D modeling and I can just go look it up elsewhere?
If someone could point me to a primer on all this, I'd appreciate it!
(I get the feeling that once I have this vocabulary, my life is going to get much easier)

thanks!!

There's a glossary thread here http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/46/ . Feel free to suggest any additions that you feel are needed.

What a wonderful resource...too bad it doesn't offer any help on the DAZ jargon like JCM, FBM, PBM, Delta, G Morphs, PBMDC, PBMCC, MCM etc.. A new user is assaulted with so much DAZ specific technical jargon and acronyms that it can be very overwhelming to figure things out.

This irritates and puzzles me as well. I've been using DAZ Studio for almost a year now and I still don't know what a lot of these acronyms mean.

FBM is a full body morph, PBM is a partial body morpth. As for the others, your guess is as good as mine.

JCM is joint controlled Morph. Which is normally linked with ERC's, which I think is extended resource controllers, to other Morphs so moving one part effects all the area properly.

an ERC huh? :)... thanks for the explanation of the JCM.....

Sometimes I wonder if Rockwell Automation might be secretly guiding DAZ software development:)
