How to simulate outdoor fill flash lighting with HDRI using iRay??
When photographing subjects outdoors, you have your ambient light which can be the sun and/or manmade sources. Using a HDR image as the environment map matches shadows to the strongest light source which so far is fine. The issue comes when you add a 'fill light' to fill in shadows on a model. As the shadow generated by the environment map is the only one allowed in this setup I tried planes....

Use the headlamp on the camera as an on-camera fill. You can vary the intensity and offset of this light to get varying brightness and shadow effects.
Normally, the headlamp will auto-extinguish if you add scene lights. To prevent this, select your camera, find the Headlamp Mode option, and set it to On.
Note that to get a headlamp you must use a created camera -- the built-in views (e.g. Front, Perspective, etc.) are not fully-equipped cameras, so there's no headlamp associated for these.
Thanx Tobor but that just does the same thing shown in my original screen capture. Also, that would only work for whatever camera is selected as the headlamp source won't show in the render form other cameras from what I can find.
