Fill 6 With Smoked Glass,  Linen, AND ELEPHANT SKIN

Took the above (Fill 6, Smoked Glass) and added Linen. 42 then 62, then 82, then 100

Now for Elephant Skin on top of it. These are all Elephant age 44 (don't you love that?) with 236 random setting.

I'm posting all of them so you can see these- they're my personal favorite so far, don't know why but they really appeal to me. Do click to enlarge, the full sized ones are so pretty! Showing a sample render (Annaleis, Geneva Hair) using the first one as a background.)

Oooh, love to have you join the fun! Remember, what you think is unworthy, someone else might absolutely adore! (Or can take and play with, layering effects. It might save someone else some time!)

@Kharma - This is about as close to sparkly as I could manage.  I'll keep working on it.

Let me know you you would like other color schemes.

I'd like to see one in an olive/drab green, one in a brown, one in a blue (if you have time.) I'd like to get "collections" going. Thanks so much for participating and for the sparklies- it really does look sparkly!

You're most welcome, Novica.  Here they are.

The olive green and the brown look very similar to my eye. I thought a gold one would look nice, so I added it.

Edit to add:  ...and then I thought...eh, why not make a silver one too?

    Thanks, Kharma!

Here are today's weekly freebies, the Royal Accessories, on gold and silver glittery backgrounds.  The backgrounds look much better rendered in Iray.  They actually do look glittery!

I liked how dHandles sparkly backgrounds turned out and I thought I'd try some, too.  Somehow, I don't think we used the same technique, though.  So, dHandle, could you PM me the tutorial you said you used to get that effect?  Anyway, what I did turned out fairly nice.  Hopefully, someone can find a use for them.  I know I have a favorite that I'll be using soon myself.

Looking great Knittingmommy! Your particles are smaller I believe? More tightly packed, very delicate. Can't quite describe it, and it's meant as a compliment.

    Sure!  Here you go.

Helen Bradley does a nice job with this tutorial.  She goes on to explain how the pattern can be made into a repeating or seamless pattern.  She then uses it to make glittery text.  A very cool effect!

Thanks, Kharma.  I like playing with colors, but I have to admit there are times when I get into a rut and select the same colors over and over again.  I'm trying to get out of it by trying out different palettes and color combinations.  Color Hex, the place where I get the hex code for different colors, has a palettes page and I've been using some of their palettes to kind of broaden my color choice options while I'm in GIMP.  And, since I figured out how to save my own custom palettes in GIMP, I can create them using the color codes and save them for later use, too.

These take off the Smoked Glass and change the color of Elephant Skin. I took off S.Glass so you would have the full strength image to tinker with.

    Second: Aqua Blue

    Third: Green

    Fourth: Yellow  (Shown here)

Was playing around with Photoshop and brushes, and thought maybe someone could find some use for these.  Three backgrouds plus some layers of some wispy curtains that can be used in programs like photoshop.  (It's hard to see the thumbnails of the curtains cause they're white, but they are there if you roll you cursor over them.)

    Background #1 and curtain #1 and #2.

Fill 10 With Stained Glass, Particles, Mosaic

First is Fill 10. Feel free to use and add to it. I like these pattern combinations so will do some with different gradients.

Next is Fill 10, Stained Glass Size 21, width 0, white. LOOK CLOSE AT THESE- neat pattern, like giraffe.

Fill 10, Stained Glass with size up to 45.

Fill 10, Stained Glass, size 10 sodder 1

    Then added Particles, transparent, no color. 10 / 5 / 0 / 0

    Then added Mosaic, 7.

People have different needs, so hard to say who can use what. Also, with Depth of Field, what seems picture-y will make a neat background. smiley

I won't have any backgrounds to contribute with but I see many of those posted here being used in my future renders. First is one of Knittingmommy's from page 3. I won't pollute the thread with my render so I'll just link to it in my gallery.

I used the background as both background and floor, and with a bit of DoF the seam where they meet didn't become too bad.

A big thanks to everone contributing with all these wonderful options for backgrounds!

These are all great! One thing I like about backgrounds to make them pop is to add a lighter area behind the figure so when rendered the eye is drawn towards the figure. With the gradient tool you can do this nicely y using the tool with a circle gradient

These are all wonderful thanks everyone for sharing!  I can use both the plain and the picturey ones so appreciate both.  I may be able to contribute at some point as well.

Fill 11  With Brick, Elephant Skin, Stained Glass Window, Kids Play (Paint By Number, Pegs, Building Blocks) Smoked Glass

Experimenting to see what some of the "Creative" options do when layered. Still using Corel Photo Paint, 1000 x 1000.

Not showing all of them, here's a few:

1.)  Fill 11 by itself so you can take it and play!

    2.)   Brick, rough 70, width 7 height 95, grout 5

3.)  Added Elephant Skin, age 44  (not shown here)

4.)  Added Stained Glass settings 1.1, using white lines

    5.)  Same but green lines

6.)  Kids Play- Building Blocks 25/100/2  (IMO distracting for portraits unless Depth of Field used, but if used as the base for other effects, rather neat. I also am showing you what effects are available in Corel Photo Paint.)

7.)  Kids Play- Finger Paint 1/100/1

I'll put the Smoked Glass ones next post.

    Fill 11, continued.

    1. & 2.  The Kids Play Finger Paint (with the brick, elephant skin, etc applied) with Smoked Glass colors olive, then brown. Setting 93/100.

    3.  Took that off then did Kids Play Pegs. You can do the pegs small or big. 10/100/2. (Again, pretty distracting but DOF would be interesting)

    4. & 5.  Took that off then did Kids Play Paint By Number, then I changed the brightness so you'd have a subtle one.  2/1 then 2/44 Reminds me of apocalyptic renders.

So enjoy, hope you can use some of these or take and add more effects!
