4.9.2 Updating CMS- Takes too long to load

I just ran the latest update to 4.9.2
Everytime I open it, it runs exceedingly slow and hangs on a screen saying updating CMS. It opens in about 3-5 minutes later.
What can I do to make it stop updating cms? Shouldn't it do that only once and stop?
I installed it via DIM. I have windows 8. It does eventually open, but this is seriously long loading lag.

Is there anything interesting in your log about database or sql problems?
I am also seeing this, it says "Upgrading CMS ..." every time I open DAZ Studio, which takes from 1 to 2 minutes. I have been using PostgreSQL since it was introduced. Here is the relevant part of the log:

I don't know how to interpret log files.
I keep DAZ 3d on my E drive, because of space issues I only have a small solid state drive as a primary drive. I have E designated as my install location, but I can see it put it on C. I will try removing it and putting it on E.
This is the exact sort of problem and log I was looking for, contact customer support with this log message so they can have the software team look more closely in to it.
If you don't have any custom categories or content installed through Daz Connect (that you don't mind reinstalling) support should be able to give you a script to reset the 4.9 database tables and reimport from 4.8. This should get you through this pretty quickly.

I got exactly same problem. Daz Studio 4.9.2.70 appears to work and has my categories but it takes a full 5 minutes to load and says "Upgrading CMS".
I also submitted a ticket on this, but I hope that's not the solution, because I do have custom categories (a lot) and some content (not much) installed with DAZ Connect. I had to reset the database when I updated from 4.9.0 to 4.9.1 to clear up a lingering error from 4.9.0 that was fixed in 4.9.1. I had to re-install all the Connect packages and, of course, re-import/download all the meta-data, which took a while. I don't want to do it again.
Going from 4.8 to 4.9.1 took days to sort out. I was hoping a minor point change would be hassle free. Had same problem with 2 PCs. Fortunately its easy to restore 4.9.1.30 so thats what I did. Cant wait days I really wanted to do some art instead. Moral is don't be an early adopter.
I exported my user data, reset the database, reimported user data, and now DAZ studio is booting blindingly fast again.
So do we now have an idea what is causing this? Is it custom categories? And the fix is to reset the DB which then trashes the categories? I have to say that most of my categories were trashed on the first 4.9 update so it probably won't be a tragedy if I lost the remainder and had to start over. I don't use Smart Content either so, recently, I've been using the finder in the Content panel (which is fine if you can remember the name of the prop, etc., but often I can't).
I don't know what causes it. I did submit a ticket but it being the weekend don't really excpect an answer until after memorial day. A friend also had this problem and recommended the database reset and so I decided to give it a try. Since load times were pretty ghastly.
I have huges custom categories which have taken me weeks to make. I try to backup userdata so these problems don't devastate me. But it isn't uncommon for me to have to reset my database at least once a month.
Losing custom categories to get 4.9.2.70 working OK is not an acceptable solution. Well OK if you have just started but a disaster for long term users. I hope the outcome is better than that. I'll wait a few months in the hope they can solve this. Happy with 4.9.1.30 for now.
This is NOT a wide-spread problem. It's almost as if a certain set of conditions or a specific configuration is the cause and a not very common one at that.
I'm getting this as well but its only the next stage of a long series of problems. Since "upgrading" to 4.9 my custom categories have become unreliable. The current situation is if I buy new items from Daz they will only appear in my custom categories if I re-import their metadata. But some items, mostly old stuff or RDNA items, aren't in the list of metadata I can re-import and they will not go into categories. Content that does not come from Daz categorises without any problems.
I've been exchanging messages and sending logs to support about this for weeks now. They did send me a script to try, luckily I saved my database files before trying it since it wiped out my categories and re-importing my user data only bought a few of them back, so I deleted the new database and put the old one back.
I've just checked my log and I am getting the duplicate key error, a huge number of "could not find property for animation" warnings and a warning about what looks like an insert into a table called category_content with a huge list of values which is followed by an entry saying a key already exists.
Is there any documentation on how this database works?
If each upgrade loses 5% of your customers then you will in a few years go out of business. I upgraded from Daz 2.3 to 4.7 without incident. Going from Valentina to PostgreSQL took weeks to fix and a trama too getting 4.9.1 to work. If every upgrade is now going to be problematical then I should have stopped the hobby at 4.7 a year ago. With thousands of users and many possible directory structures its important to keep the program simple because you can't possibly test against all the configurations. The tragedy is that 4.9 brought few user benefits but greatly increased the complexity of the content system which previously worked fine. So whereas Daz software developers were previously capable of creating upgrades hassle free the extra complexity now makes each upgrade difficult.

I'm interested in how you know that it isn't widespread. I noticed that DS was taking longer to load - with the "Updating CMS" message ticking over - but not so slow that it worried me too much. I'm talking about 2 minutes compared to maybe 30 seconds previously. Maybe people are just not mentioning it. Perhaps people with newer/faster computers are not really noticing the delay.
The slowness is more widespread than the failure or the destruction of custom categories (and that's the one I was actually talking about...I thought I had quoted the reference, but I guess not)...but both are not universal.
Just to end this story I put in a bug report. After going through various common solutions which were not relevant, trying the beta Daz Studio 4.9.3 which behaved in this respect the same as 4.9.2 I was told the solution quoted above in the reply of Serene Night might work. For most people this would work. In my case it would work too and I adopted it going to 4.9.1. The problem is that my Userdata is too large to export and import in one go. To get it to work I have to break up my categories into smaller chunks and export/important user data bit by bit. In my case 15 chunks was reasonably reliable whereas 1 chunk resulted in most of my files disappearing. So I know how to do it but it took me about 30 hours over 3 weeks last time. Having just done this for 4.9.1, having to do it all again for 4.9.2 I feel is downright unreasonable. Is it worth it, if I have to do it all again for 4.9.3 to N etc. Daz had written an "upgrading CMS" script for 4.9.2 but you can tell from the beginning of this thread that it did not work in many cases.
In recent years I was a very good customer to Daz spending thousands of dollars per year. Sadly the problems with the implementation of Daz Connect and the resulting effect on the Content Manager mean I lack an efficient means of upgrading the software on which the content depends. I'll be buying a lot less in future!
I unfortunately have the same issue. It is not taking 5 minutes but long enough to be unpleasant. Why do these guys have to play endlessly with this CMS, every time we are loosing part of our job...
My only way to exert pressure on Daz is to stop buying things.
I have been trying off and on for the last six months to get 4.9x to work. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and today it has been showing upgrading for 3 hours.
I use 4.8 and coming from 3 and using the custom catagories, I have disliked 4.X because I can'y fins any of my files readily as I could with 3. Now the package I want to use is only for 4.9. Am I screwed?
