Transfer Utility bug

IsaacNewtonIsaacNewton Posts: 1,300

I am trying to transfer genesis 3 female rigging onto a clothing object using the Transfer Utility which is accessed via Edit:Figure:Transfer Utility in the main menu or the pull down menu in the scene tab: Assets:TransferUtility.
I used the tutorial here:
http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/userguide/creating_content/rigging/tutorials/transfer_utility/start

This is the process I followed
1) Load genesis 3 female
2) Zero genesis 3 female figure
3) Import SummerDress object (obj file prop made in Marvelous Designer 5) (see attached image)
4) Convert Summer Dress object to SubD
5) Select Transfer Utility in Scene menu pull down
6) Fill in options and press Accept (see attached image)

This always leads to the same error message. (see attached image)

I have repeated my attempts to transfer rigging from g3f on to different clothing items on several occassions (after restarting the computer... which has specs more than sufficient for the task) but the process always gives the error message.

I reported this bug to Technical Help a week ago but I have not even had an acknowledgement reply yet, so I am not holding my breath for a quick solution. Perhaps they are very busy.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Is there anyone who knows of a solution?

Relevant info: Using DS4.9.2.55 on Windows Pro 7 64bit, 2x Nvidea 980GTX video cards, i7 processor, 64GB RAM

ah ha.. just got an acknowledgement reply... "..will get back to you as soon as...."

    Cool.

In the meantime... does anyone else have any comments?

If your images are going to show bare nipples please switch to Smooth Shaded view rather than sticking a blocker on to cover them.

Have you checked the log file (Help>Troubleshooting>View log)? The error will be at the end if you open the log just after trying to run the transfer.

Returning quicky to the subject...yes, but the error message is coded:

None of those appear related to the Transfer Utility on the face of it. You could try removing the textures from the OBJ, and possibly not converting to SubD before doing the transfer.

I had previously exported just the obj file and also not converted to SubD but the results are the same. I will do this again and report back the error message in the log file.

Using a dress object with no textures and not changing the object in any way, I ran the Transfer Utility from the Main menu and got the same error pop up. The log records the following:

I repeated this using the Transfer Utility via the Scene Tab menu (Assets:Transfer Utility) and the same error occured. The log shows:

I assume this relates to the same error

I have repeated the process after removing all textures from the genesis 3 figure. The result was the same, the log reads:

    2016-16-26 00:16:20.163 File loaded in 0 min 23.4 sec.

Yes, the projecting skin binding error would be the Transfer Utility. Try it with no Projection Template set.

  • IsaacNewtonIsaacNewton Posts: 1,300

Yes, tried it with "none" set for the Projection Template but it still gave the error message.

However, I just installed DS4.9.2.70 and tried again. Result; immediate success! The clothing object is quickly converted to a conforming clothing figure.

    Thanks for the help.
