Measure Metrics stopped working

outrider42outrider42 Posts: 3,679

I bought Measure Metrics back in January. I installed it on 4.8, and it always worked fine. I am still on 4.8.

But trying to use it just now, I got errors. I check my plugins and see it in red and saying:

Plugin failed to load!

Version 0.0.0.0  ????

Plugin was made for a newer version of Daz Studio.

I went to DIM, uninstalled and reinstalled MM. Same story. I do not recall ever updating this plugin, or altering it, so I don't know what suddenly changed.

DIM/Product Library always downloads the latest version.  Submit a tech support ticket saying you need the 4.8 version.

Thanks, Does DIM not detect the version of Daz I'm running? The 4.8 version should be available, I see a 4.5 version on the download page. And if you say DIM automatically updates, wont that mean the same thing will just happen again later on? I do not see the logic in having to go about it this way.

Anyway, I'm sending the ticket in.

DIM doesn't automatically update, but if you do redownload and reinstall it will be for the latest version, even if the name still says 4.5+.

I never updated the plugin my self before it suddenly stopped working. It had worked perfectly fine for several months, and I have not altered the plugin or updated Daz. I only uninstalled it as an attempt to fix this problem. The error code I'm getting is exactly the same as it was before I tried the reinstall. That's why I am preplexed as to what caused this to happen.

Using 4.9 and Measure Metrics also stopped working for me. It simply no longer appears in the panes menu. I tried to uninstall and reinstall, but the uninstall never finishes.

Did you check Help>About Installed plug-ins?

I'm a total moron and was clicking on the script...not the actual metric icons, lol. I guess I need to unsubmit that ticket!

I had this happen to me.  As part of a big install of new products, I updated mine to the latest and it stopped with the error about not being for the version of Daz I was using (4.8).  Turns out, best as I could find, Measure Metrics is the new name for Daz 4.9, where as the version for 4.8 and older was Figure Metrics.  I had to go back and reinstall the last version of Figure Metrics before I updated to Measure Metrics (I keep a copy of everything I install so I can roll back if necessary).  Once i did this, it started working fine again.

If you go into your Product Library and search for 'Metrics' you should be able to find the newest Measure Metrics for 4.9 as well as Figure Metrics for 4.8 and older.

I got mine to work by installing the version listed for Daz 4.5. So if you still use Daz 4.8 like me, use that version of MM. The one listed for 4.9 will NOT work. And that's what threw me, not seeing one specific to 4.8. I have no idea how it updated. Maybe I did do it mistake one time. But that doesn't matter. If the new version of MM is specific to 4.9, then that update should NEVER be available to someone using Daz 4.8 or less. PERIOD. That would have avoided this whole mess.

This issue is also complicated by how every item in the store only lists the newest version Daz under compatible software. Even ancient V4 stuff says 4.9, when obviously it would work in much older versions. Look, I understand you want people to use the latest version of Daz, but even Microsoft doesn't do that. If an old program runs on XP, 7, ect, then MS says it runs on those legacy platforms, not just the lastest Windows 10. Daz needs to do the same. If a product works on legacy versions, then list them. Daz should at least be less evil than MS, don't you think?

If you click in the Comment box for the ticket there should be a Please consider this issue closed (or words to that effect) option enabled.

Measure Metrics is the plug-in, Figure Metrics is the script package (and poses/wearables to go with it). Both can be version-critical as the scripts are encrypted (not readable to the user, not the machine-keyed encryption used by some Connect-only products). The Measure Metrics plug-in will always come in a version that needs the current build of DS, Figure Metrics will require a version no older than the one from which it was last saved but may not require the latest if it has not received an update.

I checked my Help>ABout installed plug-ins, and it tells me MM has to be registered. I have no idea what that means. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing several times. No luck.

Does it show any numbers for a key in that tab? If not, go to your profile in your account on the website, and click on serial numbers. You'll see the serial for MM there. Copy that key and paste it into the plug in section where MM is to activate/register it. Maybe your key got lost or mixed up somehow.
