Is mimic live junk?

I just downloaded Mimic Live. Thinking it would help me lip synch a character from pre recorded files. I can't find the plug in anywhere. And now I am wondering if it will even lip sync from pre recorded files as I was told since in the documentation and video it doesn't show this at all. I need help.

I believe Mimic Live is only available for 32-bit. If you are running 64-bit DS, you won't be able to use it. You CAN install the 32-bit version of DS, use it there, and save off the animated scene, then open it in the 64-bit version to render IIRC.
Hi hphoenix. The current Mimic Live is only for Daz 4.9 64 bit. I just figured that out and upgraded, I was only running 4.8. Now it starts but it still looks like I can only record live and not use prerecorded files. And this is the only lip sync program on Daz you can currently buy. I don't understand why this was done.
I'm not sure whether this will work or not as I don't have the plugin, but what I would try, assuming that you have speakers connected, is to try running the lipsync while playing your audio files through the speakers. I would imagine that you would need to play with settings somewhat and the quality of both the speakers and the recording will play a role, but hypothetically it should work.
im using 4.9 and i cant find the plug in can someone tell me how to find it
It's in the About Plugins of DAZ Studio in the list of plugins but unless you brought Mimic Live! you won't have it. I think you'll have a demo mode of it that is active for 30 days the very first time you install DAZ Studio but that's been a while for me so I don't remember and also maybe they have changed that.
Mimic Live is really a terrible plow. Unfortunately, I no longer use it. I move gradually to animation to the competition. IClone, Motionbuilder, etc. As far as animation is concerned, DAZ studio is terrible. It is not possible to insert video as background for tracking atp. Tracking is almost impossible. The VooDoo scripts for version 4.6 and higher no longer work. It is possible to use a curve as a path to animate the camera (object). Daz is great for generating characters and very simple animations.
Mimic Live is 64 bit
https://www.daz3d.com/mimic-live
And you can use it with pre recorded audio
if you follow my instructions here:
https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/115371/for-my-fellow-animators-using-mimic-live#latest
It works Great for me in Daz studio 4.8 and I am using it for my current animated film project.
I gree with Leo in regards to Mimic, I sure wish that they would have come out with a new version similar to the mimic that was available for Poser, it also forced me to utilize other applications for animation, specifically Motionbuilder. I have had good success bringing in mocap , both facial and full body, into Daz Studio though, for rendering in Iray, even bringing in the animation from a rigid body to animate a camera in Daz Studio.. but I agree, native animation capabilities leave much to be desired.
Technically you can still use the full featured Mimic 3 pro for poser with DS 4.9 as long as you dont use the Genesis 3 figure
( which I dont)
Simply export your Genesis2 male or female as poser cr2
and load that cr2 into the Mimic pro session manager .
you generated PZ2 will work find on Genesis 1&2
.
(G2 female animated with mimic2 pro for poser)
Genesis3's pointlessly exotic Face Bone rig has done
Nothing but make the figure harder to have expression and facial animation IMHO.
I did get mimic pro to work on a genesis 3 cr2 I created myself but not the Renderosity one
video
this was before DAZ released the dmc
I was trying to make one myself, I did but it did not work D|S lipsync I had to export a pz2 pose from mimic
and theirs does not work either in mimic btw, my own did.
and yes it worked in PoserPro12
video
If I really need to create some G3 lipsinc
I will just Use mimic Live plus the graphmate plugin to adjust it if needed.
Cant speak for others but mimic live 64bit
https://www.daz3d.com/mimic-live
is getting me accurate results for my animations.
FWIW, you can still get the original standalone mimic pro (windows/32b/older) at toolfarm.com for around 50 bucks. Works on characters that have poser-style cr2s available (e.g. exported from DS) with facial morphs.
it has much finer control than current DS offerings, and you can make your own (and/or multiple) DMC files for any such characters. Works with pre-recorded audio, and phoneme editing on the produced/analyzed lipsync track is quite controllable/powerful.
The workflow is to import the audio, character, and phoneme map for the character (or default map). Then process audio, adjust results on lipsync track to taste, and export resulting animation as PZ2, import to DS w/ same character... do what you want from there...
YMMV, but I like it a lot, considering the age of the tool. Use the same email you use here at Daz3D whe you buy it, and it'll be available in your local Daz3D product library.

Indeed all of the fine editing tools make this a very complete lipsynch solution for Daz figures even today.

FWIW The 64 bit mimic Live I mentioned earlier is on sale for about $15 USD atm.
There are more options available
This one is $35 USD but I think it only works with genesis figures imported to unity
BUMPING @wolf359
"Indeed all of the fine editing tools make this a very complete lipsynch solution for Daz figures even today."
You don't say, now.
Okay so this one is on sale, now.....

SO I'M ASKING BECAUSE IS THIS A NEW VERSION with all that functionality or is OLD and doesn't do it all? -- and Das is pushing a scaled down version of some other full product?
Sorry to be that guy, but I like knowing things before I jump.
And it says 64bit, but no where does it say only compatible with Gen X figures, so does that mean it's been updated to work with Gen 3 thru 8 since it does say Daz 4.10 as the software?
-----------------
Wondering if I can use.....
1) Genesis 3/8 figures
2) PLAY back audio (a previously recorded speech) to sync the character to.....
3) Record the video or live stream as some kind of video file?
4) What kind of machine (ram/Vram?video card, etc) can animate a Daz figure (file size) in real time? [I find this hard to belive and too good to be true].
5) I can't watch videos with sound
The mimic live on sale is the same one I mentioned earlier
in the thread.... no new features.
