Genesis 2 female sculpted head/body morph for character

This is my Mudbox sculpted head morph for a graphic novel I've been working on on and off as a personal project. Right now I'm still in the concept design stage but got really anxious to test out tech theory from reality. the reality is that its a pretty straight forward process for me, exporting the base gen 2 female out of daz as an fbx file and importing into mudbox with textures. I no longer have a problem with textures displaying right in mud because the uv's are in seperate tile space unlike with genesis 1, allowing me to do some photoshop like texture edits in 3d space vs a flat 2d image. I cross refrence photo and 3d when I sculpt paint and draw. It's also really cool to know that I can do portrait or refrence sculpts that have more of a dynamic functionality to them then just static images or really posed looks like that of the classic boris vallejo or Alex Ross work.

That looks very well made! I would be interested to see the the figure textured.

Are you working at base resolution?

It's looking pretty good.  Make sure that you check the topology as you sculpt.  Something a lot of new sculptors do is move the mesh around, but don't check the topology and how it looks as you sculpt.  You want to keep it even and keep in mind where the brows are.  Test and look where existing textures lay on the topology your moving.  If you're only going to use only your own textures, that's fine.  If you are making a morph and may employ textures made by others, you'll want to make sure you keep where brows and lip lines, etc are so other textures look good on the morph(s).

  • Yeah thanks cris. I do plan to use my own textures but i do preview premade textures on the figure here and there as i sculpt. As with making the figure compatible with other textures, I may do 2 versions of of textures just because i dont like where the original nipple sits cause they come off too ideal and fake to be honest. Still doing my home work on mcm but working torward doing complete realistic characters soon.
  • Thanks linwelly. I do plan on texturing it and making a displacement vr out of it along with a normal map vr.
