EULA question: multiple daz accounts?

AtiAti Posts: 9,143

Hi,

I haven't seen any restrictions about multiple accounts in the Licensing agreement. Is there such a thing either there, or someplace else? Am I legally allowed to have multiple accounts? (Not forum accounts, but accounts I use for buying licenses to store items.)

Having multiple accounts will cause problems using Daz Connect and is not encouraged, in fact rather the reverse. Why are you wanting to split your content across multiple accounts, if this isn't a purely hypothetical question?

It IS a hypothetical question, but the main idea behind it was whether it was legally possible to get multiple PC+ memberships, and thus multiple coupons that come with it.

I don't think that would be permitted. But to be sure you would need to open a Sales support ticket.

Even if you can get away with it, I don't see the math working out. Two of the four primary benefits are the 30% discount on new items and the insane low prices on new PC+ items - and you only need to purchase these once. Now you pay $29 for a 3-month membership, or $90 (? too lazy to look it up :-) ) for a 1-year membership to get $18 or $72 of coupons good on any and all DAZ Originals, whether on sale or not and another $6 per month that requires a minimum of $12 additional purchase to use. And then you need to log in with the appropriate account (to the store, or by DIM, or by Connect) in order to do the downloads. And periodically log in with each account used to see if any updates have occurred for items purchased by that account.

It would be a valid setting if you have one account for private use, and one for business use.

Thank you, Richard. I contacted them, and they said they have no problem with two PC+ memberships in two different accounts. The only thing they said I am not allowed to do is purchase the same item in both accounts. Which would not make sense to do anyway, so that should not be a problem.

Whether I actually want to do this, is another question for another day... :)

I haven't fully done the math, it was just a quick idea yesterday. I could imagime spending another 12 bucks on stuff I don't NEED, but that looks good, to get that extra 6$ off. Of course I could get those items eventually with just one PC+ membership, too, it would just be at a later point in time. I will do the full math on this when I'm more awake... :)

I'm having a hard time understanding why and why waste the money. The savings in a couple coupons isn't worth another full membership.

If you bought the membership at 30/35% off then theoretically you could save a further 30%ish off around $450 worth of purchases a year(including the membership) after other discounts. BUT: you would need to spend several hours a month (or more) to optimize your buying. So, who's prepared to do the work for less then $US4.00 an hour and every mistake made reduces that rate.

I don't think it's quite that dire -- if you have plenty of DO's and older items so that you're certain to use the coupons every month, it could pay off.  But it's not a no-brainer like the first subscription, as the 30% discount on DO's and the PC catalog that can be used an unlimited number of times make it worthwhile even if you don't always use the coupons.

I've only been a member for around 18 month and have just about run out of $6.00ish DO products in my wish list so was averaging spending $2.00 over to get full use of the DO coupon (using it on items under $6 drops the overall savings)

PS I live on an income of under $US30 a day and am used to stretching every one of them as far as they can go but honestly the time and stress to make this idea work : I wouldn't have the energy left to use the product, but that's just me :-D

PPS So I checked my math and bottom line $98.50 over 24 transactions (or $74 if you don't get membership at a discount).

I got around to finally doing the math. If you get the yearly PC subscription during a sale, for say $49, you get 13 months worth of coupons, $12 each, that's $156, deduct the price of the membership $156-$49 = $107 extra savings. I have to spend more to get this, which means I might be better off with some of the "buy more, save more" type sales, and not complicate life. It all comes down to what type of sales there are, and whether what I want to buy is included in these sales.

I forgot about the extra months coupons you get for both the 3 month and yearly subscriptions.

But that only applies if you don't renew before it runs out, 'course you could just wait a month or more for the next discount on membership before renewing.

Also if you're spending over $700 a year you wouldn't need to increase that to make the savings, but if it's close to that care would be required as to which account was used, when. If spending a lot more then that then it should be easy to distribute the coupons around.
