Muscular tension?

Hi,

Is it possible to generate forces or tension in the muscles of the figures? For example in the hands when they grab something or in the legs if the figure holds some weight.

Thanks.

  • There are "Muscularity" morphs for each generation of Genesis, e.g. Muscularity Morphs for Genesis 2, which include specific muscle morphs (identifiable by anatomical names) to increase the size of specific muscles or muscles globally, and "Flexion" morphs which flex individual muscles or flex them globally according to pose. I can't say whether these are exactly what you are looking for, but I've bought them for every generation and use them often. The only alternative to these is to create custom morphs for particular instances in a pose, but of course this requires skills with modelling applications and the importing of morphs and requires a fair amount of extra work. I don't recall them working down to the level of hand muscles, though—it's probably not worth it as hand muscle tensions are quite subtle and I think unlikely to be appreciable in renders.

Unless doing extreme closeups...and then there are other details that probably would need more attention than the tendons showing...

Yes, absolutely. In that kind of close up I suspect muscles and tendons would be the least of your problems. I was looking at my own hand when making that comment and when clenching my fist really tight compared to fairly loosely it seemed to me very difficult to tell which was which and it was more the "collision" compression than anything, which muscle morphs per se wouldn't be any help with.

Me too...about the only time things became that noticeable was 'crushing grip' type holds.  The collision compression was much more noticeable, with a much lighter grip.  And for most texture sets, the lines, wrinkles and other skin features would need to be more detailed long before even the light grip became noticeable.
