Importing a model

I made a custom airplane in Poser. I basically added a gattling gun, some lights on the exterior, a back stabilizer. I'd like to import it as is into Daz Studio 4.9. I tried to export is an OBJ or a DAE file but in both instances I lose some of the textures, on all primitive shapes. In Poser the primitive shapes use a Math function to create the texture (i.e. no map required). Is there a way to properly import it without losing data?

As I understand things, Poser and Daz Studio (indeed almost any such 3D application/render engine) have different material/shader requirements.  Some basic stuff, such as diffuse maps, etc., will be copied across and owrk equivalently, but if you drop down to using procedural shaders (as it sounds you have done), then they will be specific to the creating environment and require re-doing in the target environment.

You may be able to create a similar effect for 3delight in Shader Mixer, given that there is a certain similarity in the render engines. Using Iray I'm not sure how comparable the systems are.

  • Thanks for your reply. I understand. Sounds pretty difficult and technical. I wouldn't know how to go about transforming the Math functions for shading in Daz. If you have any information on how to convert those, please do share :)
