Why Did my Video Render as a Second?

When i played in the timeline, my animation was 2.5 seconds long. A Gif-like play. I rendered .avi On default iray Day at the Beach , using interactive. Not photoreal. When I play the .avi, my genesis appears on the screen for 0.5 seconds, and the video ends. It does not even move.

    I don't know if this is relevant to your issues but I found early on that rendering out to an image series is best. Then use some video editor to import and convert to a movie format such as .avi. I use the free MPeg Streamclip (choose "all file types" and ignore the incompatible message).
