Help with editing animate blocks

Hey everyone. I'm relatively new to this program so the answer might be obvious.

I used to be able to go into the key settings (older version, 4.6 i think) for the animate blocks on the 'aniMate Lite' plane in Pose & Animate. By clicking on them, there were more options, like adding and adjusting keys. But the option tabs at the top to do that are no longer there (in 4.8), plus i can't adjust the blocks like trimming because it's saying those settings are disabled. 

Is this because i haven't purchased AniMate2? If i could do this in my older version, why when i installed this version, i'm limited to what i can do. I've read up on forums and already reinstalled genesis essential starter and genesis 2 female starter.

When you first install DS there's a 30-day trial of aniMate 2, after that it reverts to aniMate Lite.
