Problem with Michael 4 hair

in New Users
I'm a total newbie, and just trying to get the hang of things, so the answer is probably something really obvious, but I'm missing it.
I just downloaded Michael 4 (in one of the freebie bundles today!), and have been playing around to try to learn. I added the basic hair to him, and managed to get it to the right place and parented, but his short hair underneath shows through (where the new hair doesn't cover). I'm not sure how to get rid of it? I don't seem to be able to select it to delete it? Is there some way to do this?

You need to apply a different skin texture -- the sample textures that come with the base figure have the hair painted on.
Hey, Rinelle. Welcome to the forums! If you are a new user just starting out, although Michael 4 is an older figure, there is still plenty of content available for him (it?) in the store here. If you are on a budget or unsure of what to purchase as yet and just want to get going, there is a very good, free alternative (without fake hair) that I have no hesitation in recommending. If you do a search for ShareCG that should take you to one of the most popular (and safe) free content repositories on the net. Once there, enter unicornst in the search box on the upper right and select the Unicornst's Gallery from amongst the results. It should be the first result. Once on their page scroll down and find Nicholas for M4. That's what you want. There are actually three files in the package and you want all three. Downloading requires an account to log in, but it is painless to register and costs nothing (and once again, the site is safe). Download all three packages once you can log in. Nicholas is about as good as it gets - in addition to an excellent texture for M4 with lots of options, you also get an excellent character morph as well, which you can use or not as you please. Be sure to go back and comment with a thank you to Unicornst if you like it and rate the download as well. I recommend clicking on the fifth star on the right - I think the product deserves nothing less than five stars.
I agree with what SixDs said, but remember that Nicholas is set up for 3dl, and not Iray, as it is an older package.
