Making clothes and triangels

I understand that quads are best.  But can you use triangles in difficult places for form fitting outfits?  Or are triangles always bad?

  • There are lots of discussions and articles on the web about tris vs quads and you have probably read some of them so I won't go into the pros and cons, but from a practical point of view I would never say that triangles are always bad. There are a few products with tri meshes at DAZ, including a recent one for G3F which I bought (sorry can't remember what it is!) and I have to say it seems to work and render fine for me. There are even more conforming items that are mostly quads but have some triangles and I really have never seen problems with these.

Where tri meshes create problems for me is on tight folds where shading artifacts become really obvious, but these are fully triangulated. I would say that if triangles aren't a problem then they aren't a problem!
