My Daz Connect Library on C:

My Daz Connect Library are 6 GB and it is on C: (that I don't like).

The wrong place to use the space.

What happens if I just delete it?

I had a download of all my content and had installet it with the InstalManager in another Libery on D:

Can I change the My Daz Connect Library to be on my D-drive instead?

    Yes, you can change it.

I'm not 100% sure how...I think it is the Content Directory Manager (my main machine can't run 4.9 right now and the other machine, which does have 4.9 is being used  and I can't go check...).  Click on the Connect library and Edit (I think...).

Don't just delete it though. You will want to move it all over to the new location your going to point everything to.

The Connect Library has its own entry in Content Directory Manager (Edit>Preferences>Content Library tab>Content Directory Manager). Highlight the current path and then click the Edit... button on the left to set a different folder.

If you want to avoid applications in general defaulting to the C: drive tell Windows to use a different folder for Documents (and Pictures etc.) by finding them under your profile (C:\Users\YOU\), right-clicking on the folder, selecting Properties, and using the Location tab to select a folder on another drive as the new default.

  • okay thank you

  • Okay I had done that.

But why shall I have 7 GB in my Cloud folder?

I thought the meaning with Cloud Solution was not to have it on the hardrive, but in the Cloud until I thoose to install it.

As it is now Daz use my harddrive to Cloud, why?

It is not cloud storage, it installs to your PC.

Yes but why is it on my PC before I chooce to install it.

All the new stuff I had bought is installet by the manager.

But I do not need to have all my old stuff in that Cloud folder.

I had it already on others drive and installet in my Runtime.

So why are Daz pushing all that stuff on my harddrive / Cloudfolder before I wish to install it?

And why shall it be there? I shall connect to Daz when I use to install from the m,anager so why have it in a Cloud folder on my harddrive?

I think 7 GB ia a lot and still growing when I by new.

You don't have to install the products with Connect if they're already installed.

  • I know that. So my question is:

Items will not install without your telling DS to install them. The metadata will be downloaded, but that's small.

OK, if you go to the Smart Content pane, products tab, and click the pending Install State Filter at the bottom is anything listed? If so, seelct everything in sight, right-click, and Cancel the download.

  • There is none pending but a lot in the avaible panel. All my old Poser Stuff fron RDNA and old Daz stuff like Aiko 3 and Zygote.

I had never asked Daz to place it on my harddrive. If I should want to install that again it would be nice if The Install Manager first got it when I say go.

All that stuff I had already installet in my Poser Runtime and also have a backup on a harddrive.

It is nice that Daz keeps my RDNA Produtt avaible, but not on me harddrive space without asking me.

So can it be deleted without getting errors? And will it still be avaible if I some day want to install it in DS My Liberay?

  • Yesterday I installed The Legacy through The Install Manager.

And it put these files here (1.3 GB). What is that good for?

Those are for older versions of DS (pre-4.5).

I think you are looking at the directory that is storing the downloaded zip files...

Unless you tell DIM to delete them after installing it will archive them for future use.

Had you double-clicked the files in the Smart Content products tab or the Products list in Content Library? That would launch the install for the product if DS was connected.

  • edited April 2016

Yes I had double-clicked  the green buttons on the Products list page.

But not for all these old products that are here, they are coming automatlc.

It is years since I had bought them, before I even use DS.

By default, it is going to grab all the stuff that isn't installed (and no it won't detect old manullly installed items) and download it to install.  You need to configure it only to grab what you want/new purchases.

No, Connect will not (should not) install anything without being told to.

Opps...that's DIM that will want to grab everything unless you tell it not to.

Okay but i can't find where to config that in DIM and I can understand that DIM had a link to my files so I can chooce to install them.

But I can't understand why Daz put the files on my harddrive and not just a link / metadata.

The files are huge - accessing multiple gigabytes of data every time a scene was opened would be impractical for many users. The service is called Connect, there's no cloud in the name or branding to imply it's an on-line service.

    I guess I don't like connect so.

If you delete them (or better unisntall them) then they will not be on your drive - if you load a scene created with the items you will be prompted to install them.
