Environment Map Help

When you have an HDRi background set as your environment map, is it possible to make it seem further/far away? I have tried messing witht the X,Y, Z settings of the dome orientation with weird results only. The picture is always right smack against the outside of my window and I would like to make it seem far off/a bit further away in the distance if possible. Any thoughts appreciated! Thank you. :)

I'm not entirely 100% sure but if the HRDI Dome is meant to be a 360 degree half dome lit environment then it's got one scale and that is the scale of the objects on the horizon at the location the photographer was shooting.

You can still use the HRDI lighting and use other background pictures to your liking by turning DrawDome off but the way the light on your new background falls compared to the HRDI lighting your render is actually using almost surely can't match.

Ok cool thank you. Whatever the photo is, is what the photo is. Under what cirumstances I wonder does one alter those parameters....?

There are two options for the dome...infinite and finite.  Finite should allow scaling.

If you turn on one of the Finite options it does make available Visualize Finite Dome, change of the Dome scale, and of the Dome radius among other things but unfortunately when I try those DAZ Studio crashes or I get a Windows blue screen (video driver). If you have a new PC than 2011 you should get better results than me.
