Problem with missing file in Daz 4.9 Tutorial (SOLVED)
I'm trying to learn Daz Studio, (I'm a Poser user) and I'm very frustrated. The third lesson "Adding an Environment" in Daz Studio 4.9, keeps giving me an error message that a file is missing. I've installed both the Genesis 2 and Genesis 3 Starter Essentials numerous times using the Smart Content pane, the Install Manager, and even manually so I don't understand why this file is missing.
Here's the error message.
"A file required by the "iii - adding an environment" interactive lesson can not be found. Check that the file is installed correctly to a mapped directory and try again.
The missing file is provided by the following product:
Genesis 3 Female Starter Essentials"
But the link goes to Genesis 2 Starter Essentials
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Does it say what the missing item is?
It only says it's the "Genesis 3 Female Starter Essentials," which has a link. When I click on the link, I find myself on the download page with the Genesis 2 Starter Essentials--http://www.daz3d.com/downloader/customer/files/#prod_16280. I've installed both.
Here's a snapshot.
Checked it on my clean install, the missing file is actually the alchemy chasm from the Genesis starter essentials,
You'll need to have that installed to run that lesson.
Troubleshooting the lessons is a bit of PIA.

Okay. Thanks. I'll try that. :-)
It worked! Thanks! I appreciate it!
Please report the mistaken name and link as bugs.
FWIW, there's no real need to limit yourself to only installing some of the Starter Essentials sets — there are lots of goodies in all of them that can be used with other figures, so go ahead and install the lot.
For that matter, if you go to the store main page and set the Sort By to "Price Low-High", you'll see a few other Interactive Lesson bundles among the freebies in the top half of the first page. The ones I remember for sure are Day At The Beach, Inside The Asylum, and Sci-Fi Warrior. The included clothes and hair are for Genesis 2 F/M, but they can also be autofitted to G3; the included props and scenery sets can of course be used with any other figures.
So I just downloaded and installed Daz3D (with all of its default included libraries), and am running through the tutorial. I am encountering the same issue mentioned in the original post.
In the responses, it is mentioned that to solve the problem, something called "Alchemy Chasm" needs to be installed. When I search for that, I find this page:
http://www.daz3d.com/the-alchemy-chasm
It is an item that costs $14.95. So do I need to buy this in order to proceed with the tutorial?
If you install "Genesis Starter Essentials" the Alchemy Chasm is included.
I decided to go back and do these tutorials again for practice, and I'm getting the same error with all my starter essentials installed. It would be nice if it told you specifically what it's missing (if any Daz developers are listening!).
Daz team usually doesn't monitor the forums. If you want to suggest a feature you should open a support ticket.
My first time using DAZ and I ran into this problem. And that Alchemy Chasm is not in the starter packs and is $15 to buy. A little frustrating to try to figure out as a new user. Without Googling and finding this thread, I would've been even more lost.
This is an old post, but I found it trying to fix the same issue and I think I was able to find a solution.
I clicked "Enviroments" under the "Products" tab, which is accessable when your character is not selected. Then I clicked "Landscape". There should be "Genesis 2 Starter Essentials", and if you click it the program downloads all 6k-something files to the correct place. After this was complete I restarted the program and the remaining tutorials were working! I know these files are supposedly downloaded with the program, but I don't know of any other way to fix it.
