Daz 4.8 - Suddenly stopped rendering in Iray

I didn't change any settings - It just brings up the separate render window, but it renders all black. The render progression bar (% complete indicator) doesn't show up.

I tried rendering in 3Delight and it works.

I have a GTX 970 Nvidia card, 16 GB RAM, Win10, Intel i7 processor.

Any ideas where to start? I tried restarrting Daz and I also created a new, very basic scene with just one character to test. Same result - won't render.

    Ok first off that "completion bar" is not a completion bar in iray, it's a variable, specifically the rendering converged ratio(render settings), and will never hit 100%.

    Setting it to 100% will never, technically, reach 100%. It's best to max at 99%.

    I've had renders never get past 31-34% when set to 100% and running for hours.

     

    As far as the black scene,

    Do you actually have any lights in the scene or just using an HDRI or render settings light settings?

    Is this an indoor or outdoor scene?

    Are Camera lights set to Headlamp on?

    What type of lighting do you have in the scene?

     

    More than likely it's just a lighting issue and you'll need to switch the lighting from a 3delight type to the iray type.

    Thanks for the help....I haven't changed any settings to my knowledge. It literally went from rendering fine using Iray all the time to not rendering at all. Just a pure black screen. Lately I have just been rendering with no special lighting at all. Just what loads normally when I create a scene from scratch and select Iray as the setting in the Render Engine tab. Sometimes I use the product called  Light It Up Iray Lights from Daz. Either way I get nothing...just the black screen. If I change to 3Delight, I can render, but of course it looks nothing like Iray....very cartoonish rather than realistic.

    Do you have any suggestions?

    Followup - I started with a blank scene. Loaded Victora 7 with nothing else....no hair, environment, lights, camera, wardrobe, nothing. Just loaded the Actor. Then pressed. Render..........got an immediate black screen in the Render window. What can be causing this?

    Help > Troubleshooting > View Log

    Post the lines about the render.

    It looks like Render with CPU was unchecked. I checked the box and now I seem to be back in business. Although I never understood what Render with CPU means. Does that mean it is not using my GTX 970 Nvidia card to render?

    Right, if your scene won't fit on the card, it will fallback to using the CPU only.

    There should be info in the log file about whether or not it sees the 970 and tries to use it...
