problem with saving light setup

Hi there,

I saved my light setup as a preset.  When I brought the light preset into a new scene, its location is on the ground and diffferent from the original settings (e.g. eye level of the character).

Any idea how i can have the exact setting?

Thank you very much!

    What kind of lights?

It's a group of 3 lights (Accent Light. Side light 01 and side light 02).  I have them on eye level and around the head of my character.

I want to use the same settings for another character.  But when I brought in that light preset into a new scene, all the ligths are located on the ground level.

    Thanks.

What are the lights...point, spot, distant, etc?

I always save them out as a scene subset.  and save the render settings (which includes the hdri) seperately .... with that I have no problems with them coming in at the wrong spot/level.

@ mjc1016: The 3 lights are all Spot lights

@Lyoness: ok, so I saved a new scene preset with my lights.  How do I import it in to the scene that contains my character?

You said you saved the render settings (with hdri).  How do you do that?

    Thanks for your help!

Save as scene subset allows you to just click on it.  As a scene, you will need to right click and select Merge otherwise it will overwrite your current scene.

File > Save As > Render Settings Preset...and the box shoul pop up with rhe renderer preselected and allow you to expand that and select/deselect specific options.

Spots and points both should save with 'height' info...distant lights, height doesn't matter.
