I have taken a problem I have and made it worse. Hopefully someone smarter than me can point me in the right direction. I'm running Daz 4.8.
Here's the original problem. When I load a G3F base figure it looks fine. When I load a second G3F base figure into the scene, it looks fine but the first figure changes. She grows taller and thinner. I can check the parameters and many are changed from zero. If I load a third G3F, the second figure will change to look like the first.
So after searching through this forum, I learned a little and tried to solve the problem last night. I looked at the default value for some of the changed parameters to see if the default was set to something other than zero. The ones I checked seemed to be zero. Even though I didn't find any default values that needed to be changed, I decided to try something else I learned about. I did a File, Save As, Support Assets thinking that might force loaded characters to have all parameters at zero. But I left the Genesis 3 Female checked when I did that and it ran for a while changing a bunch of things. I restarted Daz and lots of things are different now. The background is different, there are menu's I can't find and probably more things I haven't found yet, I tried searching for some file or folder that would contain the changes I made to try to undo them. So far I haven't found it. And this change didn't help my original problem at all.
So I have 2 questions:
1. How can I undo what I did last night?
2. How can I figure out what my original problem is?
Thanks for your help. I look forward to trying some of your ideas when I get back home tonight.

1. I don't know what you did, but Window>Workspace>Select Layout should let you restore the default application layout.
2. I don't see this issue. You were loading the Daz Studio Formats\My Daz 3D Library\People\Genesis 3 female\Genesis 3 Female file through the Content Library, or the Genesis 3 Female through Smart Content? I have tried both without issue. Or were you loading something else?
If you saved the new asset last night using the default values then you will have overwritten the base figure - you should not generally use the Support Asset saves unless you know you need to for a specific task (generally saving something you have created). I would advise uninstalling and reinstalling the Genesis 3 Female Starter Essentails to get back to the base: if you chnaged the author and product info, and didn't overwrite the Genesis 3 Female character preset, then what you did will not have done any great harm.
Richard,
I was loading through the content library but it may do the same thing through Smart Content. I'll test that tonite. It used to work fine for me. But something changed a couple of months ago.
