Some Genesis 3 characters look really realistic. The most realistic girl we have is Eva 7 in my opinion. She looks like she could have been based on an actual person.
Even though we have an awesome renderer now, a really devoted skin shader is still missing.
Another thing are dynamic wrinkle normal maps that certainly add to realism. At the moment, our characters kinda have botox faces : )
I think those are 2 areas where Daz should focus to step up the realism game : )
More realistic looking morphs would of course be welcome! At least by me : )
While the skin isn't perfect I think the hair, eyes, and clothing need to come so far in catch up with the skin...
I definately think the skin should be default modeled a different way in the default Genesis skins...via separate layers of pigmentation and wrinkles, although they might move the wrinkles out completely and add them to the models as morphs.
I find bethany 7 a bit more realistic, but i'm partial to women with curves.
As far as the normal maps, skip the cheats and give us some more polys so we can create better morphs.
The reason they are able to get such detail in the OP's video is that the character probably has an extremely high poly count.
Just getting those nose wrinkles would require a good deal of polys.
probably more polys in the face then in the entire genesis line put together.
Nonesuch00, definitely agree on the hair. very few are really good. and there are so many cheats on them it's ridiculous.
The problem is that a really good hair, one not using transparency maps all over the place, takes a lot of polys to create, and the combination of a physical hair and a good poly character would crash most peoples computers just trying to load her.
Not saying it can't be done though.
Having played a bit with LAMH and Garibaldi, it's very possible in daz stuido, it jsut takes a heck of a lot of additional work to achieve as opposed to the low poly painted versions.
That character in the video is going to be rendered real time in-game so eventually, those nose wrinkles are going to be created via some sort of normal maps based on the high poly scans of course.
I think the opening scene at 0.19 is real time in game footage.

Ah, she must be based off of those old Forest Finns. She looks like the little girl in the 1st painting on the link.

I'm not sure what exactly the story is about but I think the main character is a celtic warriror travelling to viking homeland. Sounds awesome : )
after watching a few of the vids,
dang, i so need a handheld scanner.
so when can we expect something like this in daz stuido?
When Daz gets themselves a 3D scanning room I guess : D
two words
Reby Sky.
It's been done before for Vickie 4 and i think there's one for v3 even.
but the final results are iffy.
i think it has more to do with poly counts and the tech of the time.
Be nice to see something like that for the genesis series.
