How to model perfect bends?
Hi all
i played around with the Genesis 3 figures to see how well they bend. I noticed that when i apply an extreme bend, often several parts of the mesh are affected (see the attached screenshot). When i bend the shin up to the max limit, the mesh of the thigh and the knee bulges out (red arrows). If I bend the foot to a tiptoe position, the mesh around the achilles tendon bulges out too (red arrow).
How is this modelled? With morph targets? Hidden bones? Weight painting only? Special deformers? Something else?
Thanks in advance!

It's a mixture of the way the bone deformers work and correction morphs. If you click the chain icon on the bend slider you may be able to turn off the links (I can't recall if it breaks controller links to other properties or only control links from other properties) and see just the ned in operation.
Thx Richard. Wow there are lots of controllers and sub-components involved when i bend the shin or the foot... I removed all controllers and sub-components for the foot in the Property Hierarchie Editor to see how the bend looks like without. Now the bend does not look so nice anymore...
Is it possible to see what each controller or sub-component does? Is it possible to edit certain sub-components and controllers? If yes, how?

If they are morphs you can set them directly - but you will need to enable Show Hidden Parameters in the Parameters pane option menu. If you do that then you should be able to jump to the parameter via a right-click on its entry in Sub-components in the Property Hierarchy.
