Before I dive in...

Hi All

My reason for trying this software is to create a fictious rock band and animatie it.  The band members will have to be able to hold guitars, play drums, sing into a mic.  One of the band members is a dog (the drummer).  Before I start working on 4 different charcters, I wanted to know if this is possible?  I am currently using an application called Muviczu.  Its fun but I am running into some limitations i.e. some of their characters are limted to what they can "do"  And you can't create any new characters.  I ultimately want to have the look of toystory; cartoony charcters in a realistic world..  I believe that look an be acheived more easily than it could 5 yars ago, with out the expensive software.  Here is what I am talking about:

Thank you for any input you can provide.

While there is no reason why this can't be done in DS it will require you to learn DS animation. Which may or may not be easier than using Muviczu or CryEngine that the example animation was made with.

That aside, your big problem will be modelling and rigging new characters (DS alone can't do that) and getting them into DS. And of course rendering the animation will be very time consuming. I wish you luck. Cheers.

Cartoon characters for Daz are somewhat limited. Most products tend more toward realistic shapes and skins. One issue to watch out for is that Daz has been around long enough to have several generations of characters, and compatibility between generations is limited. Before buying too much content in the store, do some research and ask some questions about specific products that you are considering. Be sure to download the free content, like Genesis Starter Essentials (generation 5), Genesis 2 Starter Essentials (generation 6), and/or Genesis 3 Starter Essentials (generation 7). There are also several free bundles in the store that will provide you more sets, wardrobe, and hair to experiment with. I recommend trying the free stuff first to get a feel for whether Daz Studio will work for you.

As far as instruments and poses to play those instruments, you might consider:

Electric Guitar Player Bundle (compatible with generation 5)

Rama Drums ($1.99 if you join the Platinum Club)

Rama Drum Solo Poses ($1.99 if you join the Platinum Club) (Compatible with generation 6)

Search for Instrument in the Daz store search box and you will find more, including brass instruments and poses. With any pose you purchase, you can expect to have to make manual adjustments if you have morphed your character at all. The poses are ususally made for the base character.

Since you are brand new to Daz Studio, I expect a lot of this will sound like gibberish! We all went through that phase.

Actually Barbult, this information could not be any better!  Considering I want to stay more with a cartoony look, I may stay on the Muvizu path.

Thanks guys, for the your input!  :-D
