Well, I'm blaming my neighbor for our second run out the door. She got an adorable dog bed (the ones that are 49.95 at Walmart and about 59.95-69.95 at Petsmart) at TJMax for $19.99- and those are NOT ON SALE. So if you folks have dogs, remember to shop there first for dog beds. They are the bumper beds (the wonderful padding all the way around, like mini walls) and even Serta (posture pedic, whatever) with zipped covers so you can wash them. Wow. I never thought to shop at TJMax for dog beds.

My daughter just told me today she got that dog bed from TJ Max - she's been wanting one for a long time.  Good deal!

Thanks for showing the rain. I like the way the ground loks in some of the renders with the rain splashing there. I tend to do rain postwork though. It is one of the quickets things to do in photoshop so I didn't pick this one up.

I picked up Jimmy Flip hair, and I like that one.

I haven't been buying too much here lately. I picked up the Greyalien at YurDigital, and like him. Also a few things at Rendo are tempting me, like Redz santa claus.

@Barbult- I'm looking at Willow Spring (I own the old one) and I think the style of Molto Bello matches it close enough to use together- but I'd have to change the color of one them in Diffuse/etc. M.B. is too red, can you check to see if putting a tan in Surfaces can change it up to match W.Springs? (I'd rather "tan" it than "red" Willow Spring)

I'm just plain tapped out after the sale, decided to focus my budget on things that were greatly discounted this month, so only a few things here and there.

I am going through Thread 6 right now to add those characters to the Characters thread, and OMGosh, some hidden pearls of wisdom in that thread. For example- ever been frustrated by grouped items by the vendor where you want to remove SOME of them to speed up your renders? Richard explained how to delete those polygons here.  I added it my first post- under Tip: Delete (blah blah blah) so you can easily find it.

Start looking through your Genesis renders / characters if you have some decent renders. (They have to be well lit / show details well.) Just post the links over in the Characters thread here in art studio. I am already on page 16 of thread 6, some great renders from there. Read the discussion part of the thread for the links, I will index them later. It's easier to do one thing at a time.

Going through Thread 6, I found where I had tested Macro Skin. (For those of you using 3DL, it does speed up renders.)  I don't suppose parts of this would be retained with Iray?  The increased bump map, for example?  This is where the discussion started, and the vendor (Parris) stopped in to comment. Here's the product page.

The red is too strong to just hide with a tan in base color, I think. I put the bump map into the base color image map and then put a tan in the base color. That sort of works. I think you'd have a hard time matching the other set, though. I only got Molto Bello because it came in the discounted bundle yesterday.

Oh, funny stuff. What vendors do, we noted some fun things in thread 6. CS Buttlebot 3000 has a pose called "TaDa!" and a newspaper with Elvis in the headlines is in Motel 51.

Do you want to see awesome customer service in action? Look over in the Iray Rain thread. KindredArts is modifying a Cafe Luca UV map, because I had a problem with it. The UV discussion starts here.

That was very nice of them to do. But why aren't they doing it as an update for everyone, instead of attaching it to a forum post? (and in a thread that has nothing to do with the Cafe Luca.)

Thanks for showing your tweaks with M.Bello, looks pretty close. Appreciate it!

It is a Daz Original (buyout) now, so it would be the responsibility of Daz to fix it. (i.e. submit a help request, wait many months,...)  It ended up in that thread, because I used the Cafe Luca enviromnent to show an Iray Rain render. It spiraled from there.

If you've ever wanted to combine poses, here's a tip (And if you forget how to do it, it's in my first post under Tips: Poses

It also discusses how to move only one part of the body, zeroing poses, saving partial poses, etc..

It's an interesting idea, to have the bike as a "kit." I like the approach!

Looking through the discounted items- I don't like Tia's fingernail area at all. What's with the white below the cuticle area? Look at the first and second thumbnails on the product page, the first one is shown here. I did a Google search for African American hands (and fingers) and couldn't find any that had the white semi circle ringing the fingernail. No one has noticed this by now?

I could not figure out where the Molto Bello came from lol!  I'm looking at it going, why did I buy this/don't remember buying this, I don't need another one of these lol.

The Iray rain looks really good, I did pick that up.

I picked up some stuff for Carrara that was 80% off today.  Trying hard to not buy much for awhile.  I did get almost all of my Christmas shopping done this weekend, only have a couple gift left .  And God bless my daughter not only did she put the tree up she wrapped EVERYTHING for me. I hadn't planned on going out today but she wanted me to go with her and I am glad we went.  Got some really good deals and am coming in well under budget.

  • NovicaNovica Posts: 23,887

Looking forward to seeing your Carrara renders! It certainly has some neat products. Glad you got your shopping done, I ordered Stetson a fleece blanket to replace the one that ripped (it's 40 degrees right now) and that will go under his heavy quilted blanket. I call it transitional blanketing, in the mornings, they will take off the heavy one and leave the fleece on, then around 9am when it warms up in the 50's they'll take off the fleece. The blanket came today.

Your daughter sounds very considerate, and it's nice making memories while you shop. smiley

We had some really really rough years when she was a teen.  I'm very happy that that is over and its fun to spend time with her again lol.  She is a good girl, hard worker, super responsible and will graduate from nursing school in May.  She's overcome a lot of obstacles and worked very hard.

I've actually got a ticket in at the moment for the Cafe Luca set - there is a typo on the menu board for the coffee. Still waiting to hear back tho. There's another menu that doesnt' get used (which also has a typo on it) and I think Barbult had it on his cushions (which looked fantastic btw!) I'll agree with the awesome customer service from KindredArts tho - he's pretty cool like that :)

I'm getting bogged down in Thread 6, doing the characters, because I'm reading all the posts lol! Stupid me, I forgot about all the clothing modifiers I have. When I go to render a Genesis 3 gal, I usually surf through the Genesis 3 clothing, when I have the modifier products to do even Victoria 4 clothing on her. Sheesh. Too many products.

Anyway, look at this post because both of the products showcased are on sale. They are:
    http://www.daz3d.com/in-bloom-for-mei-lin-6     and  http://www.daz3d.com/warmth-for-lilith-6

Edit: not sure about these though- it doesn't appear to have anything custom, just dial spun, which you can do yourself. But it will save you time.

Okay, it says Pillow for a prop in Hospital Bedroom, but it ISN'T FOR THE BED. So I think this is ridiculous. No covers on the bed, no pillow for it either. (In other words, how would you add anyone to the scene? Have them sitting on a bare bed, unable to lay down?)

Yeah, the lack of bedding actually bothers me. Any scene you render will look unrealistic. At minimum beds should have morphing sheets and morphs for the mattresses.

What is the typo? I didn't notice. (The pronoun for me is "her".)

Barbult- I'm not sure if the "his" referred to you or Kindred Arts. Is the vendor a he or a she? The last sentence says the vendor is a he, so I think the "his pillows" was referring to the vendor.

Maybe I misunderstood the context. No problem either way. I think the vendor is a "he".

WHOOPS! So sorry Barbult - I have no idea why but I have had you as a 'he' in my head for ages. blush I don't even know why. Many apologies.

the typo is "amercano" instead of "americano" on the coffee board....and "dessert" spelt as "desert" on the little menu that doesn't get used.

I will be posting here shortly, but head to DarwinsMishap's thread here in Art Studio to see Parker, coming soon. D.M. and I are coordinating to give you a variety of looks, he did a pirate, I am doing a Western Sheriff. (The thread will be near the top, I just posted.) Rendering another Parker right now.

Considering real-world menus and such often have typos, is it really that bad?

You are right about real signs having errors sometimes.I didn't even notice it, which is amazing, since I am such a perfectionist. But I am a terrible speller, so that is probably why I overlooked it.  But I can certainly understand a customer wanting the product items to use correct spelling.

Heyo! I'd like to clear some things up from the posts above. I am indeed a he, a he who evidently cannot spell. My apologies about the shoddy spelling, i don't really have any sort of excuse for that. The pillows did work fine as provided, but evidently didn't work with any sort of modification. My uv's were laid outside of the 1:1 grid and studio doesn't seem to appreciate that. I'm not sure if daz will update the uv's since it's not technically an error, and it works out of the box. I am always happy to help customers though - i've had many people ask for custom rigging, texture changes and a myriad of other tweaks, and i'm always happy to do it. The complication with these fixes comes in the form of it being Daz O (as mentioned above), which sort of limits what i can do. If they approach me for these fixes, i'll happily provide them.

I just wanted to clear things up so nobody thinks i'm ignoring problems. And a big thanks to Barbult and Blue for raising these issues with me. smiley
