Reversing transparency -> Cinema 4D

Hi, new user question...I work with Cinema 4D and was happy to see that rigged characters can be exported from DAZ and imported to C4D with the skeleton working correctly.

In fact, I can continue posing the character in C4D with the skeleton. Most of the textures come across as well, with the exception of the transparency, which apparently works the opposite way.

It's not a difficult thing to fix once the model is in C4D, but I was wondering if there's a way to do any tweaking in DAZ before (or during) the export to FBX takes place, so that models would come in looking as expected.

Thanks!

    In Studio the transparency map is white = opaque/black = transparent.  So it's probably the map that needs to be reworked...so no, there's nothing that can be done in Studio.

  • Ok thanks, will just reverse them after the import.

    Hi Eric

    The transmap imported into the transparency channel instead of the alpha channel is a long standing quirk.

    ...but I have not seen the reversed transparency you mention.

    Is that with a specific texture set?

  • Thanks Prixat, maybe that's the issue...I'll see what happens if I put them in the alpha channel instead of transparency.

    As for the texture set, I don't think it's specific...I've seen this happen any time I've brought a character into C4D.

    The eyelashes, the material on the eyes and hair of humans, the tails and manes of the horse, etc. I'll do some more testing.
