Do the Genesis Characters Have Names (and versions)?

Hello all,
I'm trying to find exact fit items for the Gen 1, 2, and 3 characters; however, most of the items (hair, clothes, etc) go by names like Michael, Victoria, Stephanie, David, etc and then they list a version number as well. So, I recently downloaded the latest version of Daz3d and I have no idea what their names (or versions) are. Can anyone help? Thanks a bunch!

Hi Chohole,

Genesis 3 Male : Eddie
Genesis 3 Female : Jeane
Genesis 2 Male : Phillip
Genesis 2 Female : Bree
Genesis Male : Jeremy
Genesis Female : Lana
Milleneum 4 Male : Michael 4
Milleneum 4 Female: Victoria 4
but people never call them that, they say, G3M, G3F, G2M, G2F, or Gen (Gen because the male & female use the same mesh in the original Genesis).
Victoria 4 and Michael 4 were the last time those two characters were free as part of DAZ Studio I believe and those were the last non-Genesis characters.
They call the Victoria 5 and Michael 5 - V5 & M5 (Genesis), Victoria 6 and Michael 6 - V6 & M6, and finally Victoria 7 and Michael 7 - V7 & M7. Those are paid characters now and if you look in the DAZ Store there are many similar Genesis 1, 2, & 3 characters to choose from. Those characters will be 'DAZ Originals' and are more than just a face morph and set of textures.
The Milleneum characters go all the way back to about 2000, although I think Victoria has always been the name of the main Milleneum female character, I think the original Milleneum male character was David.
There is probably a DAZ Store web page or thread sticky that says all this in more detail.
Please note that the names given here are the names of the texture set which came with the base characters, not the names of the figures themselves.
Edited to add this is a Short History of the Daz 3D figures, It is however not up to date yet with the latest figures G3F and G3M

The bases are what all other character figures, in that generation, come from and are not, as Chohole points out, named. The textures that come with the bases are normally named to make identification easier since the textures are usable on other characters made from the base. Characters are often named for easier identification as well. Products which are morphs only, and do not come with a skin texture, may or may not be named.
Well dang, that short history was longer than most of the reading I managed to do in college. LOL
Thank you all for that additional information. All of your responses were well written and very informative. FYI, I couldn't find that information anywhere so I am glad you all pitched in to help me out!
Cheers!
