Genesis System

I have been a Poser user for many years. I have also been using Vue. After upgrading the software recently I found that I really like working in Vue and it gives much better results than Poser in rendering out nice work. Now Poser imports to Vue very well. For me, this makes Poser pretty much a modeling facility where I create the figure, wardrobe, and pose in Poser and then import to Vue where I create the scene and render. The results have been very good.
I have been using the Daz figures in Poser, but am having a real problem with importing Genesis stuff into Poser. So, I have decided to pick up Daz Studio and work on creating models in that software in order to begin using some of the great content for the Genesis system. I have found that I also like a lot of the features for Studio 4.9 (particularly the smart content feature).
However, I am finding it very difficult to figure out the difference between using Genesis, G2, and G3 content. Is there some publication or notes or something that gives a detailed explanation of Genesis? An example of questions I have are along the lines of "will a wardrobe item made for G3 fit on a G2 or G?" What about morphs? Etc. Basically I am talking about replacing the huge amount of content that I have for V4 with new stuff for Genesis (cha-ching)! The bottom line is that before I start laying out the cashola for this, I need to understand the Genesis system and how (and if) the content is comapatible across G1,G2, and G3.
I have also found that Collada imports (exported from Daz) to Vue are not as clean as from Poser.
It would be very helpful to have some feedback on the subject to help in making the transition.

Beyond that, how does a figure like V7 relate to genesis?

Just as I note, I find the search engine at the Daz store to be cumbersome and not very helpful. Rarely can I find anything I am looking for without pain. For example, I search for Genesis morphs and it come up with all kinds of stuff except a specific morph file (like morphs++ for V4).
Thanks!

In general clothes will cvnert from the previous generation without needing any add-ons, but skipping a geenration or going backwards requires the purchase (or creation) of a clone shape. Textures are largely usable on newer figures up to Genesis 2, but Genesis 3 uses a differnt Surface layout and requires conversion or special tools to use older textures. Morphs can be transferred using GenX 2 (up to Genesis 2) or using the Transfer Utility.
