Confused and need help with Product Library downloads
Hello,
I was wondering if anyone is able to point me in the right direction with how the Product Library on the DAZ 3D site now works...
Firstly, I know there are a few questions floating out there in the forums that seem to be related to this, but I cant seem to find an answer specifically to my issue and I dont have all day to trawl the forums and threads.
Ok to my question...
Say I recently purchased a product from the DAZ 3D store, ill use Stonemason's 'After the War' as my example (great product by the way!!) and noticed that there are two options in which I can download the products file (refer to attached screen capture):
- DAZ Connect Offline files
- Manual
Now historically (before DAZ Connect), I used option 2 to manually download my products and never used the DIM as I like full control on where I place my files when I install them.
I even go as far as editing the *.dsx support files so the product returns correctly in DAZ Studios 'Smart Content' tab.
This is the process I have been using for many many years and never had a problem with it.
Now back to my question...
With the recent release of DAZ Connect we saw the application of encryption to product files (which can be downloaded and installed straight from DAZ Studio. One which I personally think is a fantastic idea) and the additional download option in the DAZ 3D Product Library providing users the ability to download DAZ Connect Offline installation files (option 1) along with an Authorisation file in which when used together during installing a product, will decrypt the installer and allow the process to continue.
My question is: Why would DAZ 3D supply product installers in both encrypted (option 1) and non encrypted (option 2) formats via the Product Library? Its not like I am going to download both formats...
Have I missed something? Do the non-encrypted files (option 2) have a time limit applied to them in which after a certain date they will no longer work once installed.
Any help will be appreciated.

Comments
Daz Connect content is not necessarily encrypted -- there are a few items (about a dozen so far) which are encrypted (and are only available through Connect), but most content can be installed with Connect, DIM, or manually, and is not encrypted.
