Yea, I was in the beta.
I've not used the Release version in many years so I hadn't thought to load it instead.
Question...is ther a chance that this feature has had code for it placed in the release but wasn't made visable yet and somehow a hotkey combo has activated it?
For the life of me I can't duplicate this bug even in the relerase version.
I've tried with every tool active, every plugin On and Off.
edit: Though I'd add my system info
Edition Windows 11 Pro
Version 24H2
Installed on 1/26/2025
OS build 26100.3194
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.48.
I use a Logitech mouse (G502 with its own drivers ansd also have a WACOM tablet installed
Hmm, I wonder if it is a Waocom issue? it still sounds a bit unlikely given how many people probably have one or another Wacom tablet. I am not immediately seing anything on a web search for "Wacom driver Qt issue".
This possibly is the best explanation we've come across so far. Are you sure it isn't in the release version and isn't simply made invisible? It would explain our problems perfectly if we unintionally somehow triggered it.
It isn't, I have no idea if the underlaying code was present though my reading of the chnage log didn't realy suggest it. It certainly sounds as if the setting was new, not just newly exposed to the UI.
So, at least one of the devs uses Wacom devices - which pretty much rules out a driver issue unless it is a very specific version/combo.
What the actual f? In my install the problem is gone, just as unexpectedly as it appeared.
No, it isn't. I was in the Public Beta Build.
*crawls embarrassed under the next rock*
This has been confirmed, so another wrong tree :(
Can you elaborate on that? What was confirmed, and what does "another wrong tree" mean?
That the code wasn't present in the General reelase for the setting to have somehow been turned on and got stuck.
Wrong tree as in barking up the, we have had several bright ideas as to what the issue might be but none has yet borne fruit.
Thank you Richard, I was just taking the look that tree just in case :)
I found this searching
https://www.digitalcitizen.life/fix-problem-drag-and-drop-not-working-windows/
It's a windows bug so not sure if this appliers here.
so after left clicking and holding the item to drag if it won't drop then left click and hold it again, then press the ESC key once, then release the left mouse button and try to drag and drop normally again.
I did find some references to disabling drag and drop on laptop touchpads.
I don't have a laptop so I have no way of testing this.
The settings are supposed to be on Windows in settings>Bluetoothand Devices>Touchpad.
and something about gestures.
Sorry I can't be more help on the laptop part or if it's even applicable here.
If both f these are regular desktop PC's I'm assuming it's the hung drag and drop Windows10/11 bug from the link
