IRay Image Series Rendering Slows to a Crawl after a Certain Number of Frames

I use Daz to produce a tiny web series that averages about 12,000 frames per episode. For years I've been able to finish the animation and then let it continuously render for a few days consistently. I render in Image Series and then mash the frames together at the end, since I like to observe each frame as it's rendered because I'm insane like that. I was averaging about a minute per frame.
In the past month or so, it'll average about a minute per frame at first, but then a few dozen frames in, suddenly starts taking 6+ minutes, if not longer, and doesn't even fully render the frame.
What the heck is going on? Anyone else have an issue as oddly-specific as this?

You're probably dropping to CPU after a few frames, and CPU rendering is way slower.
Which version of the driver are you using? I've seen people mentioning problems like that with some of the most recent drivers.
