My Render Window size is reduced?

DDCreateDDCreate Posts: 1,404

Normally when I do a Render, the window as it develops is the same size as it is in the Render view. As you see in this screen shot, i hit Render and this smaller window appears an reduced the size of my picture. Does anyone know what causes this? I haven't messed with my Render Settings at all. Thanks again for any help.

The window will be whatever size your final image will be.

I'm guessing that your monitor is set a resolution that is higher than your final image size. IE, a 800 X 1000 render size on a 1920 X 1200 monitor.

I'm using a laptop, 60+ renders, this is the first time it decided to reduce the size of my picture. Normally my render window is equal to my the size it defaults to. My problem is that the window was smaller than I wanted it to be. For me to change the size of my laptops resolution, I would have to know a lot more about computers than I do.

Have you checked that your render settings haven't changed?  Does the camera you're using have render dimensions set?

Well when I first tried the render I just did it in Persepective View and then that tiny window popped up and I was like Whaaaaa? So I did actually create a camera and set it to the angle I wanted and it did the same thing. I never touch the resolution (1000x800). The Perspective render and the Camera Render produced the same picture and were the same size. It kinda stinks when you put effort into a picture and then DS decides to only show a portion. I'm inclined to lean towards "user error" but I honestly didn't do anything different on this picture than I did on any other. I'm not good enough/don't know enough to start messing with render settings on any deep level. I just really hope it's an easy fix because I don't want tiny pictures! cheeky

This is actually really easy to fix. in the render settings tab you will see an option under general for "constrin proportions (global)" click this to off

then above that you have "Pixel size (global)" change those to what you want your resolution to be (in this case I think 1000 x 800)

Thank you so much. I don't know how that got out of whack and I guess I don't care as long as I can fix it. Thanks for the tip!

I tried what you said and the window was bigger but still limited. Turns out the problem was that my Dimension Preset option was set to Custom. I swtiched it back to Active View Port and it fixed it. Thanks for the help though!
