Lucas 9!

xyer0xyer0 Posts: 6,013

Lucas 9 redeems Daz's abandonment of the young rebel type (who's ALSO a compelling character) since Elijah 7. Pity Mada wasn't roped in to give him clothes I'd want. Polyester pants?

He's on another level. The French Crop hair is very well-made too.

Is it just me, or do his arms look freakishly long?

    Hey, it's Harry Styles!

He's a nicely made character and more than a few steps up from Lucas 8, who was imo one of G8's least inspired core characters.

You're forgetting Torment wink but Elijah 7 rocks, I agree.

If Lucas is here, does that mean Stephanie is around the corner?

Ooooh, really really like him! The deals one can get don't seem very good though, do they? If you're just DAZ+ I mean. But it's an interesting character for sure, and I like lots of the accompanying stuff!

The first one popped into my head was indeed Harry Styles!

Oh, thanks, I did forget him. Compelling character, true, but once you go full demonic, you've exceeded rebel class, imo. He does look like Hazza. I can team him with CJ8 and homebreak.

If you like Torment, Google model Lucky Blue Smith!

Looks good. I hope to pick up him and the HD for the rib detail when the australian dollar is a bit better or if there's some discounts. You guys will have to post some renders for me

  • Definitely some good potential with him.  I like the casual male clothing, too, as I personally have a shortage of those, so I'll be picking up the Character Bundle.  Might pass on the HD Add-on, but I can just get the clothing set separately and pay less.

Looking at Lucas 9 confirms my view , that Genesis 9 is just a plain male figure with a feminie morph add on.

For some reason he looks either British or German to me lol. Interesting character. I'll pick up the bundle eventually when it goes on super sale

Yeah I'd say generally most of them have similar skin textures-I haven't gotten Lucas yet but taking a look, his skin looks similar to Tara 9 or maybe Kara 9.  The interesting thing is that recently, the biggest differences between the G9 releases have been the face morph more than anything else.  And that's a good thing, for sure, but without unique body morphs or skin textures (like Astaroth) it devalues the product when compared to some other things out there.

To be clear, I actuallly do like this character.

Me too. I was just referring to really the general situation with the new releases. I check my email first to see what Daz has sent me for new releases and when I saw the text Lucas 9 I was disappointed. Then I checked out the character and the bundle items and I'm sold now. I was hoping for a new female character but to be honest, I need more dedicated male characters like this anyway. Plus the clothes. So yeah, good one this week after all

Not just you. The arms are definitely out of normal proportion.

Arm lenght loks o.k. to me. It's actually about his wrists and hands, that looks oversized.

The clothing is a massive disappointment to me. Every time there's a new male bundle, it seems the clothes are on par with Michael 3. A quilted vest and quarter-zip pull over with no zipper. Woven shirts with wonky knit polo-style collars and incorrect button placement. None of it is acceptable to me, wouldn't download it if it was offered for free.

I looked over the page and got confused by the bundles. I had to pull up them and compare the clothes from each before I understood that the Everyday Masculine Clothing Bundle for G9 included all the clothing and texture add-ons from the other two bundles and of course the add-ons. (I have a migraine from a fasting blood test and haven't eaten yet today. So brain not yet fully engaged.)

I love Elijah 7 and this Lucas 9 makes a nice compliment to him. As to the arm length, well not everyone is born with perfect porportions. I had an uncle who caught polio and it affected one of his arms and legs so they were stunted. So he they were short, and the one arm was long and matched what would have been right for his very long neck to waist length. And some come by it naturally. I don't fit normal arm length sizes for women's clothing by about an inch or two. Regarding the clothing, well I have been seeing them around where I live and I have heard that particular collar style is now coming into fashion. With the emphasis on women's wear, I will support as much as I can of men's, especially since I have so little of decent mid-range contemporary clothing for them.

I am getting the two main bundles and the two texture add-ons, along with AM's Quoll from yesterday. So my cart is at $82.29 with 4 tokens and my DAZ+ coupon. And with that, I may not be buying again until March!

the bundles overlap, so you will pay for the same item a couple of times at least

Right ~ After comparison, his hands are a bit longer than M9's, while the collarbones look weird to me... sort of sharp or just because he's slimmer?

Still, wearing something may look better than being naked ~~

Has anyone got the "LUCAS-DEBUT" coupon code to work? I have a banner saying it should give 20% off 3 items, but then my cart is saying it's not even a valid code.

Edit: Never mind. For some reason it started working

Okay, serious question for all the men here. How do you react to this image and does the presentation encourage you to buy the clothing?

  • sidsid Posts: 456

Oh, it's like Daz saw my post about being a struggling Australian, and provided a welcome back 40% voucher. And I'm home on a writing day so I should be able to fit in some renders. Very exciting! I'm going to fiddle with his proportions, even though humans do have a very wide range of proportions 'in the wild' so to speak.

Partly because I have relatives and friends in the business, I can answer this.  The purpose of the rather out there clothes in a fashion show is not to encourage consumers to buy the clothes as seen on the runway.  it is geared more towards buyers who are curious about whether a design house has the creative chops to design a product that can differentiate itself from its competitors.  Granted, there are people (movie stars, musicians, and influencers) who will wear the avante garde stuff since the whole point iis to garner the most media attention.  What you will see is the ready-to-wear versions, will have fuller pants, smaller shoes, and much more conventional details simplified for the average consumer.  This is the equivalent in the Daz world of buying a demon woman character in the store; Tara 9 might look great in a render but no one likes horns and wings in real life.

...or it's predictive programming for the "alien" agenda. The big hats are for the elongated craniums. ;)

Looks like they've got dForce clothes too. At least they can make proper collars.

So, Lucas 9 wasn't moving so well?

Do you think folks in cities will see bowler hats, and a version of those suits making their way into offices? Variations of tweeds, wool and pinstripe in quality fabrics like the 30s to 50s? Evening outfits from the cutaway suit?

When I have seen some women's version of that line, my reactions is "Ooookay..." moving on now. But I know there is a performance factor involved as you mentioned. And I later would see traces of those ideas later. At least when I read Vogue, not today, not my thing to care about.

But I have been seeing articles on traditional fabrics, knits, and styles that have lasting wear over decades that can be handed down as a treasure to be worn; where the cheaply-made trash clothes that are at non-high end stores are offered to be worn for a month or two and discarded to the landfills.
