Starting fresh with a new system. Couple of quick questions...
I am getting a new computer this weekend and can't wait! My questions are...
1: I have been working with/learning DS 4.7 and now it is on version 4.9. Do I have to download this new version? I am nervous about this becasue I am just now figureing out where everything is in 4.7 and am afraid I'll have to Re-Learn the whole thing. I will have faster renders now but if i can't find the menus and tools, it will take me forever to set my scene. So if anyone has converted to the new software and can offer some insight, that would be great.
2: About 99% of my materials (character, clothing, hair, scenes ect) was purchased from Daz and installed with DIM. I did get a few little things from other sites but nothing I can't do with out. When I tried installing the 2nd party items, I had a rough time and made a real mess out of my content folders. It's all there, I just have to hunt a lot. I am hoping to just re-download previous purchases through DIM and start fresh with an orderly Content Folder System. I didn't tweak or personalize anything. I just let DIM do it's thing and was fine with how it has it organized. I see my order history so am I correct in assuming that I can call up all my old orders and just select "DOWNLOAD" and have all of my purchased items installed on my new computer? I'm not doing anything special as far as storing them on external drives or anything. This computer will almost exclusively be used for work in Daz. I'm not gaming or downloading movies or anything. It has a 2TB Hard Drive and 128Gb SSD (not sure what SSD is but I've heard people mention it in regards to content so i thought I'd mention it.)
So there are my two questions. Thanks so much to anyone that can help!

I'll answer what I can :)
#1 unless you saved the manual installer for DS 4.7, DIM will only install the newest version of DAZ.
which leads into question #2
Once you install DIM and log in using the same username and password that you use for the DAZ store, then it will install all of your DIM-ready items. If I remember correctly, there are very few older items that are not DIM-ready or need to be installed manually. You can still get to these by coming here and going to your account. There is a link to view your library and each item in your library has download links for all your items.
The items you have from other stores will still need to be installed manually and what I've been doing is extracting them to a folder in some location outside of DAZ and re-organizing the content how I want, then re-zipping and archiving.
Great! Thanks for the info! I think I did save the installer when I downloaded but if not, oh well. My main concern was my library. But since everything I have purchased was downloaded using DIM, I think I should be safe. I made 2-3 purchases from Renderosity but then found things in Daz that I liked more so I should be in good shape. Thanks again for the assist!
I should mention, if you have any saved scenes or prestes or anything like that, that you created yourself, then you will need to copy stuff from your old drive (particularly from your documents/Daz library as well as your user name/appdata/roaming/Daz 3D folder)
