Installer cannot uninstall old version

Hi

I am trying to update Daz studio 4.22.01 to 4.23,01 but when I do I get this error. I assume its something to do with the uninstaller but don’t know how to fix it

Cheers

What is showing on the installed tab for the current version? Sometimes there are issues with the uninstaller file, it may then show an installed size of -1 and will error out on uninstalling. If that is the issue one fix is to delete the .dsx file for Daz  Studio from the manifests folder (which means DIM won't think it is isntalled and can install the new version) - but don't do that yet if the symptoms don't match.

Thanks I'll check that out. The uninstaller shows had 0 so could be that.

Sorry, that is the stand-alone installer rather than DIM - is that what you used for the initial installation?

Yes it was installed with the standalone installer.

In that case it may be sismplest to remove the uninstaller file.

Do you  mean just delete the file that says its 0 size?  Is that what it looks for?  If I do that will it leave the old version on as well as the new one ?   if that is the case can I just delete those folders after the new one is installed.

It should overwrite the old version. Deleting the folders is awkward as plug-ins and some sahders are in ther     e too.

I moved the uninstallers out and that seems to have  worked. installed now :)

I wonder why it does the uninstall part of the installation when its over writing anyway?  seems like an extra step.

Anyway all seems  to be working now

    Thanks

The risk would be that a file was removed in the newer version it would not be overwritten, so the old and unneeded file would still be present..
