Using Poses Designed For Other Figures

in New Users
I have V4/M4 Shapes for Genesis, most of Sickleyield's clones, and Genesis Generation X2, but I'm confused as to which is best for doing what.
If I wanted to use a V4 pose or expression on a G1 figure, for example, which utility would I use?

For many poses, you can use "V4 Pose Converter for Genesis and Genesis 2 Female(s)" ( http://www.daz3d.com/v4-pose-converter-for-genesis-and-genesis-2-female-s ).
It doesn't convert certain types of files, and the result won't be 100% identical, so crossed arms, for example, can have hands sticking through arms, and poses that interact with specific objects won't do it exactly anymore. But for many types of poses that's not important, and the approximation is just fine. This script can also go through an entire folder at once, so you can add a big pile of directories to the list to be processed and let it run while you are doing something else rather than adjusting each one one at a time.
Another pose conversion tool is "Handy Dandy" ( http://www.daz3d.com/handy-dandy ).
I honestly don't know if expressions convert or not, I've read things that suggest they don't (because they might be morphs rather than poses), and conflicting reports, or maybe it depends?
Expressions are tricky because they can be morphs, posing or combination of the two. There are differences in the facial rigs between almost all the generations, but taking earlier ones to Genesis 3, with it's much more complete facial rig, makes it even more tricky/unlikely.
Thanks. I pretty much suspected I'd need a pose converter as well... though I was hoping that wasn't the case.
I just want to add something here... Have you actually tried to use those poses or are you simply wondering if you could use 'm with annother model because they don't show up in the smart contents pane? Because if that's your issue (not sure of course) then there could be an easy fix: using the content library pane. Note that there are no guarantees; the same issues as mentioned above apply, but depending on the pose there's always a good chance that it'll work perfectly, and simply needs a few minor adjustments.
