What is a "scene file" in a product in the store?

I bought http://www.daz3d.com/reflections-furniture a while ago, and noticed in the product description it contains 9 DAZ Studio scene files.  What exactly are scene files? When I look in my content under products for this item, all I see are props and materials.  I was expecting something named "scene" (kinda like a preload) so the furniture loads into the bedroon it goes with all at once.

Where would I find these 9 scene files?

Thanks!

In this case, it appears as if each piece is actually a scene (most likely a scene subset) instead of a rigged prop or figure.

  • Hover your mouse pointer over one of the items in the content tab and wait a second for the tooltip to show. Down near the bottom of the tooltip box is an entry for File Type. This will show whether the item was saved as a Scene or a Scene Subset.

The only real differences are that when you load a scene, the default behaviour is to replace whatever you have in your scene right now, and for a scene subset, the default is to merge the item into your current scene.

It also helps in saving; when you save a scene, you must save everything in your scene. If you save a scene subset, you can select one or more items in the scene without saving the whole thing.

On the other hand, a scene will save render settings; but you must save them separately if you save a scene subset.

And if the item is supposed to be a prop...it shouldn't mess with render settings.

If it is a complete room/environment, then yes, setting render settings is fine.
