DAZ Connect Question

    Hello Crosswind. No. I don't think it worked. It did something though.

    Now if I look in the install tab under "available" most of the items nave a dotted line round them as seen in the attached. A few do not. Under "pending" there is nothing.

    In the Smart Content tab under in available I have fewer items and most have dotted lines around them - but not all. Under Updates I have 7 items. I doubt they actually have been updated yet though since they are new and it normally take DAZ forever to get around to updating anything.

    It's just fine you see them under Available... but those thumbnails framed with dotted lines seem resulting from some glitch when updating metadata or uninstall the products in Connect.

    "Dotted line" means that product has no cloud metadata. I just have one product like this... if I logged in with Update Metadata or directly modified the data field in cms database with DBA tool, it would turn normal. (ss 1 ~ 2)

    So I suggest you try below steps:

    1) Fully close DIM and all DS sessions. Open File Browser, go to folder: %appdata%\DAZ 3D\ There's a sub-folder named cms. Copy it to another disk !
    2) Launch DS. DO not Login Daz Connect !!! (or Log out !) Then re-import all Metadata via Content DB Maintenance... (ss 3) Then check how the thumbnails change.
    3) Login Daz Connect with checking Update Metadata option !  Wait for the complation of Update... Then check how those product thumbnails change in Available tab.

    Edit: ( If this try brings nothing changed... you can: fully close DS / DIM, copy cms folder that you backed up... to %appdata%\DAZ 3D\  Overwrite to restore cms database to its previous status.)

    This issue seems stuborn... I have no other idea by now but further suggestion you try:

    - Reset cms database with Content DB Maintenance firstly. All local and cloud metadata will be erased. (ss1)
    - Re-Import all metadata.

    Then DO NOT Login Daz Connect for the time being. Check in Smart Content if thumbnails look fine....

    Crosswind, the warning I got sounds rather ominous. What user data will I lose?

    I don't want to lose all my saved scenes.

    BTW ... how can I make the font size bigger on this forum? I see a lot of options but none for font size.

    It is only resetting the database, the actual files are not touched - so they will still be in the recently used files list, and in the Content Library under Daz Studio Formats (assuming you save to a content directory)

    I don't think you've ever manually modified any metadata of the products... Do you know how to do that ? If you don't, choose No.

    To increase font size of your Browser, hold Ctrl key, scroll Up your mouse wheel...

    Crosswind, I have done as you instructed and have NOT yet logged connect back in.

    Under the "Install" tab I now have nothing in Available and nothing in Pending.

    Under Smart Content I have nothing in Available, nothing in Updates, nothing in Pending, BUT a lot in Installed. Some items in installed do not have a picture but most do.

    My question about the font size was how to make it bigger in the forum windows when typing - it's always tiny. Sorry.

    That's correct. Without Login, you can only see products under Installed. The current status sounds good. Now it's your decision:

    Option 1: Don't Login. Always update products by using DIM.
    Option 2: Login with Update Metadata again... to see what will happen. Be noted, you might get the same result as before... It's up to you ~~  If you want to test, suggest you make another backup of cms cluster folder...

    To increase font size in Comment when typing, see the screenshot. You may try Heading 2...

    I have DS set to automatically login when I open it. Is there a way to change that setting before I open DS again? Otherwise, it will login as soon as I open DAZ Studio.

    Thank you - and Richard too - for ALL the help! I very much appreciate you both spending your own time to help people like me. It is very kind of you.

    I saw the "headings" options but didn't try it because to me it should say font size, not heading. A heading is like a title or subtitle. Why would they call the font size a heading? That's weird.

    Until I get my right eye operated on I can't get my new glasses. And without my new glasses I have a hard time reading these tiny fonts without using my magnifier.

    Ok, 'dumb question' time.

    Why are you worrying about what the install/connect tab shows, if you're using DIM to install content?

    If you're not using connect to install content, just close the tab and don't worry about it.

    Because in times past I have seen a number of times when products I had purchased never showed in the DIM but DID show in the Smart Content tab.

    Why? I have no idea.

    So, I like to look in both places. That's why.

    I showed you how to set it up on the top of this page... 

    Press F2, Startup tab, uncheck Automatically Login with Remembered Credentials
