Tongue length and posing

DDCreateDDCreate Posts: 1,404

I am working on a render where the character has her tongue sticking out but the "tongue out" control really doesn't extend it out much further than her teeth. Is that just the standard, "as good as it's gonna get" limitation? I see there is a tongue and mouth morph available but I just wanted to check before I buy it. Will turning off the limitations do anything? The tongue morph is cool and offers some more control which could be neat so it's not a waste. Just looking for a little advice. Thanks!

Disable the limits on the length...because for some reason, someone thinks that tongues stop at the teeth and that's what the limit was set at.  3x (300%) seems to be a good length...unless you are doing Gene Simmons...then maybe 10x?

A lot depends upon the figure that you are using. Victoria 4, for example, has a Z-axis scale slider for each of the tongues nodes that can be used to extend the tongue, if desired. By contrast, the Genesis figure lacks the ability to scale the tongue except in all axis at once, rather than the ability to simply make it longer. Genesis 2 and Genesis 3 lack the ability to scale the tongue except in all axis at once as well, but can use the overall scaling in conjunction with the Tongue Narrow-Wide slider to extend the tongue without it colliding with the sides of the mouth, as a workaround.

It could just be that the x, y, and z axis scaling on the G2 and G3 are hidden. click the right arrow with the 4 lines in the parameters tab and select show hidden. I found I was able to scale another item that originally only had the whole part scale.

Thanks mjc1016, worked like a charm. I couldn't resist making it do some Gene Simmons though just for fun. ;)
