A Curious Christmas Competition (Freebie Challenge December 2024)
Denizens!
It is with great regret that I must hijack the Christmas 2024 freebie competition in order to conduct an immediate investigation. A slithery menace threatens festivities, a small pot-bellied alien who emerges from the safety of his gift box to wreak havoc on christmas eve, plundering your PlayStations, sullying your Stanley cups and terrorizing your Taylor swift themed holiday memorabilia. This cannot stand denizens, Santa needs your help to capture this devious creature and have him returned to the north-pole for safe containment. Capture evidence of this beady-eyed fiend and post your renders on the official entries thread for clout, and possibly even prizes. Christmas is at stake investigators, don your hastily made sheriff badges and sniff out this vile creature before it's too late!
Competition Trailer...
Rules:
Your drunk uncle is running this competition investigators, so the rules will be lax and poorly applied. If I see any pouty faces or lack of Christmas spirit however, the punishments will be harsh and randomly distributed.
-
You have to use a minimum of 3 freebies (This can include “a Curious Christmas gift”).
-
The render must be made in the daz ecosystem (including bryce, carrara etc).
-
Standard Daz TOS rules apply on submissions, nothing heinous. It's Christmas for goodness sake.
-
Post images in the entries thread (I will almost certainly link it somewhere, probably).
-
AI – It's ok to use AI in your materials, or as bits of filler, but this is a render competition so don't be lazy. If 90% of your submission is AI, it's going to upset Santa.
-
Maximum of 4 entries on the official entries thread. You can post non-official renders on the main thread all you like though.
*Note – I reserve the right to arbitrarily add or remove rules depending on how jolly I am.
Prizes!
There's no sweet, juicy Daz money for this competition, I did bat my eyelashes, but you can't win them all. That means the prize money will be meagre and scant denizens, no second bowl of porridge for you:
First Place: $15 store credit from KindredArts
Second Place: $10 store credit from KindredArts
Third Place: $5 store credit from KindredArts
This Freebie Challenge will end December 31st, 2024 @ 23:59 Daz time.

Reserving this post for rules and such.
I look forward with anticipation. This sounds like it will be fun. I posted about it in several places to let people know.
That's an excellent video!
You're a peach Faeryl, thank you!
Thanks squire, i had to muster an awful lot of braincells for it.
Hmmm ......
Bunyip02 freebies at ShareCG - https://sharecg.com/pf/full_uploads.php?pf_user_name=bunyip02
Thank you for the freebie @KindredArts - will see what I can come up with. On the Product Page, I especially liked the text about the return process!
Great video and voice over! Could be a movie trailer.
Hello investigators, thank you for visiting so early, and spreading christmas cheer. I've attached "A Curious Christmas Gift" to the top post, do you guys can now grab it whenever you want from google drive. Barabult has already been kind enough to sprinkle cheer over the entries thread, will you be next?
and so it began on this curious day
when orbs and lights and imps went astray
may well the elves will sing falalala
but it's curious indeed to end up in Carrara........................
when all things planned turn to dredd
and all non-official renders end up on the main thread
Santa was baffled not knowing what to do
so he sent his elves to hunt for the clue
Sorry if I missed this mentioned somewhere, but though I see the rule about needing 3 freebies, is this like the usual competition and we are only allowed so many non-freebie products to use, or can we use however many we want?
This little creature seems to be very mysterious, I wonder if Santa will catch him in time to save Christmas?
You can use as many as you want. So long as you have a few freebies in your render, you're good to go.
Excellent! And thank you for such a quick response! ^_^
Thank you for the freebie.
The curious present is delightful. Thank you for the freebie! I have an idea brewing, but it's going to be a while before I have time to put the render together reach the appropriate Christmas cheer level. But the first eggnog bottle is almost empty already, so...
Good, i'm glad my collection of deputies is getting bigger by the day. Grab yourself a sheriff badge and get on the case.
A gold star! I always wanted one! (And as a newly transplanted Texan, I find it appropriate. Carry on, our fearless leader!)
the rules are a bit different this month, and will be back to normal in January
+ interesting none the less - Thanx
- happy holidays -
as Christmas Eve was drawing closer......
even Scrooge was heard to say "hum bug bahh!"
but the trouble continued in the Runtimes of Carrara
with elves a plenty scouring for a nutter
and in their haste they forgot to check the gutter
and down below where no-one goes down
where nothing is safe
not even the clown!
"Keep searching my elves" Santa was heard
"look everywhere for that little impish tu...." to be continued.
Sorry for being late again!

Oh nice. I think i was using "beyond wonderland" in the vid/banner. It's nice but a bit busy. It's 20 years old too. Twenty .... years.
@KindredArts: Many thanks, it is really awesome!
@KindredArts: Thanks for the freebie and the challenge. Is it okay to post the contest image elsewhere (of course with a link to the contest)?
Sure, no problem.
and back in the house
where things were a mess
Santa called the big guns in
as the elves were full of stress
The tricks and foolery were starting to be a pain
and Santa needed help, help from someone with a brain
to find the thing that has been fooling one and all
before Christmas Eve before the snow was to fall
Santa needed help to find this thing of misery
help from a dog and a detective and an International Man of Mystery.....
LOL, Stezza, excellent! Even I recognized that guy, and I'm kind of dense sometimes. (Your renders always make me smile.)
Me, too! I always enjoy seeing your work!
