Its like Daz forgets I have GPUs?

I have two RTX 3080s. Daz won't maintain rendering using only my GPUs. Its been frustrating troubleshooting this. I updated my graphics driver and it finally rendered two scenes using my GPUs then nothing again on any IRAY scenes after that. I've changed nothing in the my settings. I've tried a bunch of general suggestions here from the forums but can't keep the GPUs as default. I always have to check CPU.

A little more detail. When I have CPU unchecked under Hardware, the render will start then 1 second later it will finish rendering nothing. If I check CPU then it will render but its using my CPU only.

I have the same issue on the standard Daz and the beta Daz.

If anyone has any ideas, I'd appreciate it.

  • If the GPU runs out of memory then the GPU will not be used until you restart the application. Also, the latest 9as of a couple of weeks ago) drivers were causing a lot of issues - if the recently found security hole isn't an issue try rolling back to the minimum driver required for this version of DS, or soon after.

Be noted that with latest Nvidia driver, Iray engine reserves appr. 2.2 ~ 2.4GB VRAM when rendering with DS. This VRAM reservation can not be released until DS is fully closed. So, depending on the scene size, having rendered the 1st scene with GPUs doesn't mean you can do the same with the 2nd scene, thus:

    1) Better monitor VRAM Usage from time to time by using GPU-Z rather than guessing  ...

    2) Check your DS log, it will clearly tell you if your rendering with GPUs was terminated or fell back to CPU.

    3) Optimize your scenes as needed, e.g. with Scene Optimizer. Most of the time, you just need to optimize 10 ~ 20% of the scene, then everything will work fine.

Thank you guys for the help.

I bought scene optimizer and it helped cut down my scene load on my GPU.

Also installed TechPower Up GPU so I'm monitering how Daz is using my GPUs or not.

    I appreciate it!
