I figured now was as good a time as any.
With no further ado, I present The Treacherous Travels of Henry the Halfling. A series of images, accompanied with a PDF for those who are interested in reading the story. Crafting a tale while I wait for the images render is something I often do.

In the shadowy corners of the land, where witches duel with vampires and curses lurk deep in the depths of the forest, a pint-sized poet with an over-sized sense of curiosity stumbles into a tale far bigger than himself. Meet Henry the Halfling, a wandering storyteller whose sword-wielding skills are as questionable as his sense of direction. Aimlessly traveling the land, pen in hand, Henry drifts from one adventure to the next.
This time, Henry can’t help but wonder if he’s bitten off more than he can chew. Confronted by those that lurk in the dark, and a witness to witches vying for power, he’ll need all the luck, and all the courage he can muster to survive. The title of this piece is "Saving Christmas Eve!"
Backstory: Klaus von Yuletide, the evil twin brother of St. Niko the Jolly, has hatched yet another plot intended to disrupt the holiday season and take over the WorkShop. He orders his army of naughty gnomes, known as the Humbug Clan. to kidnap Eve Chestnutt, St. Niko's chief administrator and overseer of preparations for Niko's annual Distribution of Tidings. Klaus intended to use Eve as a bargaining chip: either St. Niko hands over control of the WorkShop to Klaus or Eve dies. What Klaus did not expect, however, was that the Humbug Clan had a sworn enemy in the form of Eve's younger sister, Agent Candace McCain, a highly trained member of the WorkShop's security and intelligence force. And Klaus soon learn that Agent McCain will stop at nothing to protect her older sister...

Unfortunately, I only had time to do one. This one was hard on my system and left more noise than normal. I rarely ever have to adjust outside of DAZ, so this was disappointing. I have a few issues with it but I won't mention them.

Story
A blockade runner breaches the Sistary System looking for a planet not on any maps. The "Unsavory Lot", a fast cargo ship, runs freight between systems normally avoided due to being high risk, but it's how they make ends meet. The pay is good. While refueling on Markeet IV, they are approached by a shadowy figure that wishes to hire them for a side job. This job pays ten times what they normally make in a whole Steller year. After no Discussion, Captain Jones agrees but only if she gets half up front. Shockingly, the mysterious stranger, who only went by Brock, offered her 75% up front. Who does that?
The planet only known as BX24-C is rumored to be home to an ancient artifact built by an unknown race. Of course it is. The only real problem is they aren't sure where it is on BX24-C, an uninhabited planet. Brock does have a device to track it and he will provide that.
Fast forward, getting in was tricky, pirates and death dealers patrol the area, not fun for a ship with minimal defensive weapons. Just when they thought they had snuck in, two unknown ships sweep down and light up a rear engine. The crew, not going down easily, launched all countermeasures as well as a few torpedoes taking both enemy ships out, but they will have to land, and hard. Fires break out in the rear cargo hold leaving Jimmy to fight them while Jones and William, the muscle of the group, try to land while avoiding other nasties.
Jimmy suffers electrical burns and cuts as the hard landing tosses him around. He'll live thankfully. With the rear of the ship still on fire, they unload some of the valuable stuff, which just also happens to be toxic, in hopes it can be salvaged. They quickly drag the locator device while Jones sends a message to Brock. The ship made it, but is in need of a rescue, at least if they wanted the artifact. William would normally scout the area to make sure all was clear but since they had encountered unknowns and the ship took heavy damage, they don’t want to waste any more time than they have to, so they examine the terrain and the map where the artifact shows it to be.
Jones hears something just as Jimmy gasps. She drops the HoloCom, as a creature which must have been stalking them is now moving in for the kill. It looks like some sort of giant dog man, with razor sharp claws, big fangs drooling for what it probably sees as dinner, and glowing yellow eyes. Poor Jimmy, he's in bad shape, I don’t think he can run but William, his back is to the creature and well... he hasn't seen it yet.
Out of the frying pan and into the fire. Hope my aim is true!

So much AWESOME in this contest. After my PC bit the dust a while back---I haven't been active. Oh, YEAH! I've been buying A LOT, just not entering contests. Got a new one end of last month---and thought I'd try my hand at getting one up--it is rendering as I type...almost done. I hope I get it in on time. We shall see. Fingers crossed...

I took a much more playful approach to the theme of fighting this time around. Even ghost cats must love to have mock battles with their humans, right?
Qualifying items:
The female character is actually Phx Liam; I dialed out G9 base masculine and dialed in G9 feminine instead, but otherwise left the character's morphs alone. Eyemakeup and lipstick are from various makeup lie packs, but the bruises and the rest of the character mats all come witht he character. To make the ghost cat, I played with the emmision's channel (obviously), and I dialed the cat's overall opacity down to 50%.

Josephine stared at her reflection in the bathroom mirror, her eyes tracing the contours of her own face as though searching for someone she used to recognize. The neon green letters behind her—"Wash Your Hands"—glowed faintly in the dim light, a stark contrast to the weight pressing down on her chest.
She lifted her fingers to her cheek, feeling the smooth skin beneath her touch, but there was no comfort in the sensation. Her auburn hair, tied back into a ponytail, framed her face, but it did little to hide the exhaustion in her eyes. The dark circles beneath them were like bruises, silent witnesses to countless sleepless nights.
The lavender bra and fishnet sleeves she wore were an attempt at something—confidence, maybe? A facade, at least. She’d chosen the outfit hours ago, thinking it might make her feel something, anything. But now, in the muted light of the bathroom, it felt ridiculous, like an echo of someone she no longer was.
Josephine sighed and glanced at the sink. The running water had been forgotten, pooling slightly before disappearing down the drain. The sound was oddly soothing, a reminder of movement, of life continuing even when she felt frozen in place.
“You’re fine,” she whispered to herself, though the words tasted hollow. “You’re okay.”
But she wasn’t okay. She hadn’t been okay in months. Maybe longer. The weight of it was crushing—an invisible hand pressing down on her, making it hard to breathe, to think, to feel. Every day felt like a performance, like she was walking through a world painted in gray, pretending it was still full of color.
Josephine’s fingers traced the edge of the sink, her nails catching slightly on the porcelain. Her mind flickered to the people who told her to "just get over it" or "think positive." They didn’t understand that her sadness wasn’t just a mood. It was a shadow, clinging to her even in the light.
Her eyes returned to the mirror, and for a moment, she swore she saw a flicker of someone else—a version of herself who smiled, who laughed, who didn’t feel like this. But the image vanished as quickly as it came, leaving only her pale, freckled skin and hollow stare.
Josephine shut off the faucet and stood in silence. She didn’t know how to fix herself, but she wasn’t ready to give up. Not yet. For now, she would take a deep breath, put one foot in front of the other, and hope that tomorrow might feel a little less heavy.
OMG!!! It looks like the mops in Fantasia! I am sorry about that. The Original is in the gallery---I think. Well, at least my gallery at any rate. It's been about a year since my PC bit it and, odly enough, you do forget how things work if you haven't done them for a while.
I have been focusing on my novels during this time. I'm working toward getting my 1st one out early in the new year. Fingers crossed.
