Lamia wardrobe malfuncion

So, my snake person is attending a formal ball, and has the appropriate dress to hide her tail (skin tone and scaly face, not so much, but you do what you can).  I'm looking for ideas that show the audiance what's going on, but still mostly hiding things in-universe.  Her tail's a bit of an open secret - hiding it is more out of being proper than anything else.  My cross-section view certainly gets the point across, but looks terrible.  Can anyone recomend some more natural staging to set up this reveal?  Something a bit more than just the end getting stepped on.

Oh tough one!  I have no idea but I love the idea and I am sure someone will come along that can help.

I would have it fade and add some sparkleys. So do a render with it fading slightly to transparent. Just the bottom and work with it in photshop and add some special effect sparkles with some brushes to make it look like the magic is fading slightly.

I agree - this is a great idea.

  • I don't know much about photoshop and adding sparkles, but I tried setting the skirt to about 30% opacity & again at 20% and it's already looking like a better way to do the reveal.  I think you're right about needing the sparkles though to make it obvious the the skirt isn't *supposed* to be translucent.

I had already planned to add background dancers, so one idea that I had was adding some young kids to the scene, one daring the other to look at the tail under the skirt, but that would require morphs the skirt doesn't have (and some very unruly children).
