4.23 won't start, no main window

Installed DAZ Studio 4.23 a few days ago and it was working. Today trying to start it and it starts but no window. One small window exists but when trying to switch to it its invisible. What broke the Studio?

Of course tried to reboot and reinstall 4.23 afresh but nothing helps.

No even choice to install 4.22 that woked for a long time.

With the task bar button active (highlighted) try hitting Esc a couple of times in case there is a hidden dialogue waiting for input.

Checked that. No hidden dialog boxes. It's just stay a small window.

    How to install 4.22 instead?

Can you drag in the sides of the window?

And what happens if you set it in full screen (the square?)?

No reaction if I press anything but Close button. Then app closes

Have you recently installed or updated some software, ms runtime Library or sth. like that?

No installs or updates from day it was working to the day it stopped

Created new user and Studio works just fine. Which means that some user configs for the original user is misconfigured.

Normally, uninstaller should remove everything that was added to the system. If it was the case with the Studio then uninstalling/installing would have the same effect as with creation of new user. But new user works while reinstall not. Checked some obvious places for saved bad user settings in registry and Users but nothing changed.

DS keeps some files in %appdata%\DAZ 3D\Studio4 (under windows) when you uninstall, so you don't have to redo for example your custom layout or menus each time you upgrade.

Maybe try uninstalling with the first user, then removing that folder, then reinstalling?

Only this helped (copied from another topic):

    1. Create a new shortcut to Daz Studio (find the application itself, right-click and drag to a convenient spot - just on the desktop will do - and from the menu that opens select the create Shortcut option.
    2. right-click on the hortcut and select Properties
    3. In the "Target" text box you should see the full path to Daz Studio, in quotes. Click to put the cursor after the closing quote, type a space, then paste in
    4.  -instanceName testUI -copySessionUI 0
    5. Click OK
    6. Double-click the shortcut to launch Daz Studio, without any of your customisation settings (so it won't be useful, but it will confirm that some setting is the issue)
    7.
  • Any permanent solution to this? Daz still didn't work on my PC.
