Question about mixing and matching clothing

I think i know the answer but I just want to be sure. If I buy a full out fit (i.e. Shirt, Pants, Shoes) can I mix and match those items with other purchases? I'm just not sure if the clothing items are individual pieces or if they can only be worn with the outfit for which they were purchased. I'm guessing you can mix and match, I just wanted to check. Thanks!

Yes, the vast majority of the clothing items are sold as coordinated outfits but are individual pieces and can be mixed.   There are some exceptions, but not all that many.

I do it all the time, then use fabric shaders on the surfaces tab to make pieces match. Pick up Fit Control - this is a remarkable utility to deal with poke-through problems, including getting boots to fit over pants. X-Away is another utility which reduces the size of the model when skin is poking through. Can't give you any links, 'cause I'm replying from my phone, sorry. You should be able to find them via product search.

It's often called "Kit Bashing"  and some time back some of the PAs even sponsored a contest based around kit bashing

Depending on the clothing item, you may have to put extra effort into getting things to fit alongside (rather than sticking through) other items.  (long pants and tall boots, inner and outer layers of clothing, shirt and pants with waists at different heights, etc.)

Kit bashing is one of my favorite things to do....
