Vicky 9 vs The Girl 8

I'm wondering what y'all have observed when you compare the new toon Vicky 9 to The Girl Gen 8.  Is it possible to say that Vicky 9 was the closest thing to The Girl that it's an acceptable step up or not quite enough to get there?

  • I wouldn't really compare the two because they have different styles altogether.  The Girl 8 is better suited for 3D cartoonish styles, and Vicky 9 reigns supreme with the new Filatoons style (as she should).

I think a more apt comparison would be Vicky 9 vs. Sakura, or Kanade, or Aiko. The Girl is a different style of toon figure.

No, I don't consider them to be similar at all.  Completely different head and body shapes... the Girls have always been American style toons inspired by Tex Avery's "Girl" series of classic MGM shorts that began with RED HOT RIDING HOOD, initially designed by Claude Smith and usually animated by Preston Blair (yes, the same Preston Blair responsible for those Walter Foster How To Books on animation), and is generally acknowledged to have been the key inspiration for Jessica Rabbit. The Girls have always had very rounded, outsized heads, large bee-stung lips, and extremely large round eyes, while her body is small but voluptuous but with prominent breasts, wide hips, and cartoony hands.  The Girls were initially extremely short in stature, though Girl 8 was taller than most, and as result looks more like a BRATZ doll than anything else.   Vicky 9, on the other hand, is clearly anime inspired, with the base 3D sculpting looking quite similar to the way features are scuplted for plastic and vinyl model kits and figurines.  She has a much smaller head with a pointed chin, angular nose, smaller mouth, and eyes that are wider than a "real" persons but nowhere near as large or round as G8, on top of a taller, more sylph-like body with only minimal hip widening.

Another no vote, she doesn't look like the girl at all to me. I've kind of given up any hope of a Girl 9. Even if they make one,, I'm afraid that she wouldn't really look like The Girl. I didn't really like The Girl 8, but the Girl 7 for Girl 8 made up for what Girl 8 was lacking. I may have to break down and manually transfer Girl 7 for Girl 8 to G9.

Hmm.  Would that make her a Girl 7 of 9?  Now that there are authentic Trek style outfits in the DAZverse, that might actually be worth seeing. :)
