Camera flips 180 degrees during point at rotation around an object?

The Daz default camera flips 180 degrees during point at rotation around an object?

I am rotating a camera around a sphere (with point at on) and when the camera gets to180 degrees behind the subject the camera rotates 180 degrees

then continues on its path around the object.

At 180 degrees it flips then corrects the perspective up orientation.

Why is this happening and how do I stop it from happening?

No idea how you could rotate the camera if you point it at the sphere... but the better way may be: create a Null targeting to the sphere, point the camera at the Null and parent the camera to the Null as well. Then rotate the Null node.

it's a DAZ studio Gimbal + interpolation thing

(only software I use that does this crap)

You simply cannot use the Viewport to animate cameras, every step needs keyframing using parameters

and linear interpolation is not the default

parenting to nulls can work for simple rotations but the camera will always take the shortest path on all 6 axis

This gimbal behavior is observed when using the point at function.

One would think we could lock certain rotations but that does not seem possible.

We need other point at algorithms.
