What does "Install" under Smart Content do?
When stuff is installed by DIM, it goes to the places it should and I can use it immediately from the content library. So why is there an "Install" function under Smart Content? What do this do? What is the metadata for?

What is Daz Connect?
Why is stuff I install from DIM located in two different folders? One for "Daz Connect" and one "My Daz Libary"? What's the difference?
I've already learned the hard way that mixing them can be a disaster. I want to remove the Daz Connect location but Content Directory Manager won't let me remove the last directory from that part of the list.
If you chose to Login... (in F2 or manually) when launching DS, you'll see Install... whic relates to Daz Connect, which means you can install the products you bought just in DS rather than via Install Manager.
If you already use Install Manager, never Log in... i.e. DO NOT use them at the same time.
As for Daz Connect and its "features", check this post from barbult : https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/8886101/#Comment_8886101
If you don't want to see Daz Connect content folder in Content Library, in Content Directory Manager, just set the path of Daz Connect Data as one of your local Daz Libraries ~~ Then completely uninstall products in Daz Connect. Always use DIM.
The Daz Connect virtual foler will still appear even if the Daz Connect data directory is the same as one of the content diectories - it is an aggregate of all the /data/cloud/1_SKU/ folders, not a real, single location on disc.
Merged threads since they are essentially on the same general topic.
Actually it's simply gone after changing the path setting on my side. It literally works for some reason ~
Is it empty (of Daz Connect installed files)?
Yep, that's right ~
I told Daz to uninstall everything. And it did. But it didn't delete any of the directories. So "Daz Connect" still had a bunch of folders sitting there. Once I removed the directories, it is now just a single line in the content tree that has nothing in it. And I can deal with that.
