Axis alignment?

Okay, it's been a few years, but I don't remember how to "align" the axis that is used to move, rotate, expand objects. I have several attached objects in a group but I want some of them to be lined up behind the axis so I can rotate them easily in the sequencer. It seems that the position of the "cross-hairs" is in the middle of the group but I want it different (aligned with several spheres actually).

    OH, as soon as I leave the file and come back it aligns when I click on an object. Sorry, delete this.

    CAPSLOCK enables the pivot to be changed if you need to in the future
