Is it possible to restrict ram that DAZ can use?

It happens nearly all the time. I start a render and the PC freeze for 15-90min while DAZ calculate the render.

In this time it's not possible for me to do other things on the PC.

Is it possible to allow DAZ to only use half of the ram, so that I still can work with the PC?

    It won't be RAM, it will be the CPU or the bus to the GPU (though I am surprised either would lock solid, I've not encountered that). You can restrict the number of cores Iray will use in the Advanced tab of Render Settings, which may help depending on the exact nature of the process causing the busy state.

    That did not work for me.

    I reducted the cores from 12 to 8 but now it took nearly 2h until my PC showed some reaction to mouse movements or keyboard. :(

    Any idea what I do wrong?

    What ar your system specifications? It may be that system memory is being exhausted during data preparation, and it is starting to page to disc (which would be very much slower than working in memory).
